Here's a two hour interview with David Gilmour that is really worth watching for anyone who enjoys him or his music. Rick did a short interview with him in NYC awhile back after a show there on his recent tour. This is a much longer recent one. ________________________________________________________ It is long past time for a Convention of States. Watching David listening to his own music, hands in his lap, but his face, his eyes, playing every note. You can tell he created that music from his soul. Mouthing the words, playing in his mind every note. Brilliant interview and fun to geek out on the equipment. Seeing Jimi Hendrix for the first time, talking about sustain, "I'll have a slice of that." LOL He was so relaxed, the smile on his face the whole interview was truly joyful. He is 79 years old. I am am glad this interview was captured for the future. ___________________ "He who is without oil, shall throw the first rod" Compressions 9.5:1

He just strikes me a one of the most genuine people in the world. Every interview that I've ever seen with him he has been the same. A humble guy who just loves music. That cool uncle you could sit down with an shoot the shit or jam a little and have him teach you some tricks. I'm not into celebrity worship by any stretch, but man, if there was a guy I could spend an afternoon with, he'd be the one. ________________________________________________________ It is long past time for a Convention of States. Thanks, Gus. I still have a ways to go to finish the interview, but it’s thoroughly enjoyable. David Gilmour is one of my 5 favorite guitar players, all of which I would describe as melodic. It’s funny though, when they’re talking about Gilmour creating these iconic melodies and solos, I would see the young, long-haired, musician in my mind’s eye, but there would be grey-haired, balding Gilmour telling the story. I’m blessed to have seen him, and them, live in a relatively small venue. I’ll add now, I loved the part where Rick asks him about Strats vs. LPs. “The Strat has a clean, pure sound. The Strat emphasizes the player…You can quickly tell who’s playing the Strat.” Jeez, that made smile. Playing “You Better Run” for Rick. _______________________________________________________ despite them

He is my number one, without question. But, I find it kind of funny how he refers to the others by their first names only, "Eric (Clapton), Jeff (Beck), Steve (Howe)", etc.... These guys are legends, and to him...they're just other guys who play guitar and are really good. What an amazing life this guy has had, rubbing elbows wth everyone, and yet he seems to remain just a normal guy. ________________________________________________________ It is long past time for a Convention of States. big fan of Beato's work was not much of a Pink Floyd fan growing up , but have revisited it all as I got older, and am a big fan of Gilmours since I found out (years ago) how much he helped Kate Bush, https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

Gilmour is on my favorites list of guitarists, a very singular player- he is a true original. And I love his playing outside of PF as well. Here is a clip of him with Pete Townshend on a song from the White City album in the mid 80s. Gilmore was in the studio with drummer Simon Phillips and a bassist, and Townshend asked Gilmour to come up with a "ricky-ticky" guitar part and built the song around Gilmour's and Phillip's licks and parts they came up with.
