I did. I only discovered a bit further in my dive into the watch buying world that nowadays, you can get microbrand watches assembled with the exact same underlying Seiko movements, but with better quality/fit-and-finish and better features, for the same money or less than a Seiko brand watch.

I now own a name-brand Seiko that rarely sees wrist time since I have less expensive but nicer microbrand watches that I like more and wear more, and I honestly never plan to buy another Seiko. Having the Seiko logo on the dial isn't enough to convince me to pay more for a worse watch. (Not to say that Seikos are "bad", they're just no longer as competitive in quality and features at their $200-$500 price point.)

I wish I had a reason to buy another watch. These guys make some gorgeous watches for the price.

Just pointing out that, if you don't have one, you would get a lot more "dive" usage out of a computer than a watch. While a good watch will probably outlast any dive computer, a good dive computer can save your life and or greatly extend an enjoyable dive (even more so if it's integrated into your air supply).

But it certainly doesn't bling like a Seiko, Citizen, or any of the other brands, even the nice ones like a Suunto .

Since when do you need an actual logical "reason" to buy another watch?

Isn't "Ooh... Shiny... I want it!" a reason? Big Grin

Well, for sure! OR it might end up being displayed as exhibit one in the divorce filing.

Tomato/potato and YMMV

Buy a Seiko dive watch for immediate use and then get on the list for the watch of your choice at Helm Watches (Google it). You will likely wait two years, but these watches punch far above their price point and are exquisitely well made, ISO 6425 certified for diving and are, for a dive watch, simply gorgeous.

Blowing you and your wife's retirement savings on an Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, or Jacob & Co. is certainly divorce-worthy.

But if the wife divorces you over a $300 Phoibos, there are deeper issues. Big Grin

Hamilton, Tissot, Longines, all have interesting divers that are no longer in production but fall well within your budget.

Sort of like with Sig Sauer pistols, some of the neatest examples are no longer in production but excellent examples can still be found.

Fair point. What's the URL for that watch now?

What no love for the Deep Blue? You guys sold me on tritium one a few years ago and I love it (the batman black/blue bezel). I wear it everyday.

I have been really eyeing this Orange beast lately.
