Actually on one of my 80s playlists.

Guilty pleasure.

On mine, too.

Plus I thought she was scalding hot.

Still is.

Also one of my favorites. And I do prefer the original in German, though whoever did the translation on the English version did a terrific job.

I really don't like the English version, though it is actually pretty good. I just got used to the German version. I can actually sing along to much of the German version (though a real German-speaker might not be able to decipher my incoherent mutterings).

I recall a lot of talk back in the day of her hairy arm pits, as is the custom in Germany (used to be, at least). I was stationed in Germany from 1991-94, and I never got used to that.

just a catchy pop tune from the 80s about living in a world that included the daily possibility of nuclear annihilation

only something Gen X-ers / children of the 80s could appreciate ! Big Grin

I went to West Germany for 3 weeks as a quasi-exchange student in the summer of 1983...so that song got a lot of playing time.

I remember a women HS student in my advanced German class got extra-credit on her final exam by lip-synching the German version of the song (naturally) in front of the entire class. And she nailed it. I remember thinking, NO WAY, I'd ever do that in public!
