I'm going to update my console gaming but I'm dithering over which way to go. I've been an Xbox guy since the 360, and my experience of Playstation ended at a PS2.

My gut says PS5, but I've only ever has PS systems [and a Dreamcast] Final Fantasy & Gran Turismo were my primaries & some Skyrim. Haven't played in a while, just not as much time. Last console was a PS3 here. The Enemy's gate is down.

I owned PS1, 2, 3, and the 5. I quit playing games for 10 years (PS4 era) because was too busy with the house, etc. I favor Sony over Microsoft, and prefer the controller of the PlayStation. You should probably put both controllers in your hands and use that to decide which console. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Note that the latest and greatest Xbox, and competitor to the PS5, is the Xbox Series X. Not the older generation less powerful "Xbox One X" that you included in your title and poll. (Yes, the overly similar model names are dumb and confusing.) https://www.xbox.com/en-US/consoles/xbox-series-x As for PS5 vs XBSX, when it comes to performance and 99% of game availability, they are functionally identical. It basically comes down to personal preference for controller shape, and access to the 1% of platform exclusive games. If there are certain game series that you want to play that are exclusive to one or the other, go with that one. (Like Last of Us/Spiderman/Uncharted/God of War for PS, or Starfield/Elder Scrolls/Halo/Fallout for Xbox.) If that's not a consideration, and you've always used one system over the other and are used to that controller, go with that one.

For real? |
Depends on what games you want to play if they have exclusivity or not. I chose the Xbox series X because my son and his friends all play on Xbox live and so do my friends. I don't play anything that specifically requires the PS5 yet since my PS4 is still working but I will probably pick up a PS5 slim eventually. And always choose the XBOX SERIES X (black cube like) over the series S (white rectangular) Not minority enough!

Xbox looks more normal when placed on its side and my Harmony hub will turn it on. If you play a lot of games, the Ultimate game pass is a nice deal.

Also the PS5 is gargantuan, huge knock on it for me. I'd have nowhere to put it. The Enemy's gate is down.

Have both. Prefer PS5 only because I am traditionally a “PlayStation Guy”. PS5 has faster load times in general terms PS5 is, as mentioned, friggin huge XBOX series X looks nicer as a device XBOX games pass is awesome XBOX has straight up bought some major players so you may be locked into one or the other based on what you want to play. Honestly they are a wash really. The PS5 FEELS faster/more powerful and probably has a faster SSD but beyond loading times it’s not a huge issue. So I guess the answer is …….both. "Guns are tools. The only weapon ever created was man."

If you are wanting to watch 4k content in Dolby Vision, or even game in Dolby Vision, go with the Xbox. PS5 cannot do Dolby Vision. Gamepass for Xbox is also nice if you don't know what games you might want to buy. I have Gamepass, and there are enough games to keep busy. As cslinger mentioned, Microsoft has been on a game developer purchasing spree for a while now. They are doing a decent job of addressing that old complaint of no real good console exclusive games.

Nothing wrong with either. 95% of the games are the same. Look up the exclusives and see if one has more you like. Xbox you get Game Pass option which is nice. I think its better than PS Plus. And you don't want a 1x... You want a series X. Whoever did the naming should be beaten. Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day

Their mutually exclusive titles dictated that I would eventually get both. Finding the Xbox X at MSRP first meant Microsoft would be first one; meanwhile it took nearly an additional year after buying the X to find and buy a PS5 at MSRP. Both are extremely good at what they do but I play and use the Xbox more, mostly due to the head start I had with it. However Game Pass is absolutely a game changer (pardon the pun), especially with how it links in with other platforms like our PCs and my Android phone. I do think the PS controller is exceptional and ergonomically better than the X's, which really hasn't evolved much over the prior Xbox One's controller, but overall I still choose to use the X more than the PS5. -MG

They are the same price at ....erm...Walmart. $499. So price doesn't really figure in to it. ATM I'm leaning towards the XBox for reasons of familiarity and backwards compatibility. .

I went with PS5 because they have more of the ‘exclusive’ games that I want to play, Ghost of Tsushima among them. ___________________________ All it takes...is all you got. ____________________________ For those who have fought for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

Still a large storm trooper. They need something closer to the PS4 style.

If you have a ps4 pro there is little reason to upgrade at this point. Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day
