Or hunting for ways to politicize every book and film. This one came recommended from one of our partners who has pointed me in the direction of many good pieces of entertainment and readings. Only through episode 4 and this doesn't disappoint. With, of course, the attitude of the monkey rather than trying to dissect it.

!!! OLD THREAD ALERT !!! So I see where Season 2 is supposedly deep in post-production for the heavy visual effects, after having been renewed in 2024. Release to be (maybe) late this year. After growing impatient with the delays I went ahead and read all three of the books. Curious if anyone else has? And after that, I completely get why the visuals for a season two would be a challenge. Supposedly a third season is in the works as well to wrap it up, and those visuals should be, well, impossible. All of the books are written from a very much China-oriented setting and characters as compared to the made for TV production. That made the names and such hard to follow at times for me. The same person who recommended this to me initially also read the books, around the same time as I did so we got to compare our take and puzzlement. He's gone a step further and is actually watching the Chinese version of this. Apparently that is 15-20 episodes with subtitles! The story is interesting but not worth that much work to me. Others still interested enough to pick back up if/when that releases this year? Possible spoiler so don't dig too deep, but the concept of Dark Forest theory was interesting. It also seemed, to me at least, to demonstrate that even if the Fermi Paradox did yield that other extraterrestrial life exists, the narrow windows for crossing over in time, let alone space, seem to make that sort of discovery even harder regardless of the technology at hand. Use Earth as an example. Around a few billion years, but life only a relatively recent addition, intelligent life even a smaller flash of time in a cosmic timeline. Assuming the same happens/happened elsewhere, the odds get really long I'd think of both coinciding in existence AND technological advancement needed to even notice. Anyway, a fun story. The physics and physiology are impossible at best. A planet in that orbit would most certainly be unsustainable to life to begin with. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

The books were better than the show, so far. I'll still check out season 2. I still thought it was entertaining. How life actually developed on Trisolaris wasn't really addressed. They just were. It would have been nice to get some kind of creative side story on how that happened. You'd figure that, in order for life to develop naturally, that planet would have had to had at least millions if not billions of years worth of a stable period. That did not seem likely at all. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past me I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain. --
