Newbie to the whole Film Noir. I have only seen The Maltese Falcon and LA Confidential. Anybody have any suggestions on movies that are currently on Youtube? I also have Amazon Prime. Just a couple of titles to start me off right.

Thank you!

Oh, lots of choices, but Film Noir has a defined period- 1940 to 1959. Anything outside of that is either proto noir (before) or neo noir (after). L.A. Confidential is neo noir.

Randomly in what's available on youtube, you can start here:

Not YT, but if you have TCM check out their Film Noir page. A show each Sat late night, with host giving great preview and post reviews.

Jules Dassin's Night and the City. The pit of despair of film noir. So bleak, to the point of making you squirm.

The Prowler. Same deal. Dark, squirmy noir.

Force of Evil. More despair. You ain't gettin' out. No exit, baby.

A link to what I have found interesting about and some background on Film Noir,

I also enjoy some of the French Noir if voice over translated or sub-titled,

"Kiss of Death" was a great movie. To my perspective it seemed to have a sense of dread to it.

I appreciate all this great info. My only desire is to have more free time to be able to watch all this contact, but it will keep me occupied for the summer.
