Most of Bond is currently on Amazon. Dr. No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger.... watching in order of release.

Excellent!!! I have not seen all the Bond films (especially the older and most recent examples) & I need to fix that. Or maybe not so much with the most recent examples….the reviews sound pretty bad.

My two current favorites:

1. Live and Let Die because the story was fun and that AMAZING boat chase scene. I also love how a Tissot made it into that scene because it was Roger Moore’s personal watch and he forgot to take it off while filming thus making the Tissot Navigator an unofficial “Bond Watch”.

2. Goldeneye because the story was really fun, the FPS (fist person shooter) video game bearing the same name was designed to look and feel VERY close to the movie and it was addictive in multi player mode. That game was in development for years if memory serves me correct and it was brilliant. Most importantly Goldeneye was the first time one of my all time favorite watches, the Omega Seamaster, found its way onto Bond’s wrist.

Casino Royale is one of my favorite action thrillers ever. It's simply a great movie, not just a great Bond movie. In fact, a lot of people don’t love the Craig movies because they resemble a Jason Bourne movie more than Bond. That’s somewhat fair although they do have sly humor and try to work gadgets in a little more in subsequent films. Skyfall is next best of the Craig films.

The classic early lineup of Connery films are terrific. Typically, From Russia with Love and Goldfinger are 1/2 in rankings. I like FRWL best but Goldfinger, Dr No, and Thunderball are all great to me.

The Roger Moore movies are the most divisive. They are decidedly unserious movies and because of that, some people like them a lot. They want silly and campy. Not really my cup of tea. I do like For Your Eyes Only as my #1 Moore movie and then probably The Spy Who Loved Me as #2.

Of Brosnan’s movies, only Goldeneye is really even worth mentioning. It is very good but the subsequent films are pretty bad. I guess I like The World is Not Enough because Sophie Marceau is delicious.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is a very good movie despite George Lazenby not being a great actor.

The Dalton movies don’t get much credit but if you like the more serious gritty side of things, they are both pretty strong with License to Kill being a bit better.

I guess my top 10 would be:
1. From Russia With Love
2. Casino Royale
3. Thunderball
4. Goldfinger
5. Skyfall
6. Dr No
7. For Your Eyes Only
8. Goldeneye
9. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
10. Spectre

Craig revitalized Bond. Skyfall was his best film.
Best Moore Bond: For Your Eyes Only.
Best Brosnan: Goldeneye.
Best Connery: Dr. No.
Dalton Bond: License To Kill.
OHMSS could have been better without Lazenby.

My first exposure to James Bond was watching GoldenEye with my father and grandfather when I was 9-10. As such, I've always loved Pierce Brosnan's Bond most of all, even now that I've seen more of the films. I guess his "suave" portrayal of Bond reminds me most of how Sean Connery played the role, but he still feels dangerous and his films benefit from more modern action shots.

All this said, I have way more to watch before I could attempt a top 10 list. I'll have to check some of these out.

Goldeneye was the first Bond movie I saw. And we played countless hours on the N64 game.
The other Brosnan films, not so much.

I've enjoyed the Craig movies, the intro car chase in Quantum on a good sound system as fantastic.

I'm going to have to re-visit a lot of these. Now to decide in which order.

 
It has been many years since I read any of the books or seen any of the movies (read all of the books before I ever watched a movie).
 
To me, the one that stands out as best, book and movie, is On Her Majesty's Secret Service]. Diana Rigg seals the deal for the movie.
 
I was hunting for something to stream, and it looks like the Bond movies, in order, it is.

I like Goldfinger because I was in it!

Watched Tomorrow Never Dies last night. Enjoyed it.

lordy I now feel ancient, I remember watcing teh Connery films on TV as a kit, first or 2nd run on TV with my dad at that age, (
1 was 10 in 1973)

personally I think Goldfinger is the #1 movie,
Connery the best Bond,

Moore was good in Live and Let die, the rest got too campy,

I need to rewatch the Dalton/Brosnan films, the only one I can think of, off the top of my head, that was really good is Goldeneye, the rest got a bit too gadgety,


I think Craig did a fantastic job and recently watched all of his over again

I enjoyed them all, but still think the last one was not really a Bond film,

Marathoning the Bond movies is interesting. You’ll notice that mid-Connery to mid/late-Moore all have the same storyboard. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is where Bond turned from a spy thriller into an action series. Brosnan can’t act. From Russia With Love is the best Bond movie.

I've heard it claimed that Roger Moore was truer to Ian Fleming's original vision of Bond, but I never really liked him in the role. For me, Sean Connery defined James Bond. I didn't care for Lazenby or Brosnan either. The only one of Brosnan's that I'll watch when it comes around is Die Another Day, cuz Halle. I liked Dalton and was a little disappointed that he only made 2 films. Craig is OK.

I've read all of the books and in them, Bond is a more brutish character with a scar down his cheek, blue-gray eyes, a "cruel mouth" and sort of looks like Hoagy Carmichael. He is not as smooth and suave in the books as Brosnan and Moore portrayed him. Connery's look is pretty dead-on but Craig's physicality is the most like the books.

By the end of pretty much every book Bond is nearly dead from the ordeals and exhaustion.

I grew up on those movies. Goldeneye came out when I was a lad (which means I'm not that old now) and it kicked off a lot of marathon showings of the older movies. I suspect that Goldeneye was to my generation what the Connery movies were to my parents. As I've watched the movies again periodically into adulthood, I find myself rolling my eyes at the Roger Moore movies. They have their moments and I hate to use the word "realistic", they just come across as the most far-fetched and campy (along with the later Brosnan movies. Goldeneye and The World is Not Enough were both good.

I really, really, really like Craig's bond. I think he played the character in a very believable way that was most similar to Connery.
It helps that there is such continuity between the films in a way that was never previously done. In that sense, I get why they ended it the way they did, but in the big picture sense, I don't care for the way they wrapped the Craig films.

I got in on the books early. My favorites are Dr No and From Russia With Love.
