I think this is a good decision. She's getting a little too old for the part but still young enough to move on to something else.

I'm curious about who replaces her though, the show more-or-less, has to have a Lab Tech. When it first aired it was an all white cast and is now the picture of diversity so I'm wondering; someone of a different ethnic background than they already have?, openly gay character? or maybe the little lady who is vertically challenged that has been on there several times? (Don't know the current PC term, Little People?)

I'm not as avid of a viewer as I've been in the past. They seem to be spending too much time on the characters personal lives instead of busting bad guys but still enjoy it on occasion.

Pauley Perrette is leaving "NCIS" after 16 years and 15 seasons. The actress, who played forensic specialist Abby Sciuto, will sign off after the current season wraps.

On Wednesday, she cleared the air about her departure on Twitter and emphasized that there is no drama behind her decision.

She wrote: "There has been all kinds of false stories as to why (NO I DON'T HAVE A SKIN CARE LINE AND NO MY NETWORK AND SHOW ARE NOT MAD AT ME!) It was a decision made last year. I hope everyone will love and enjoy EVERYTHING ABBY not only for the rest of this season but for everything she has given all of us for 16 years. All the love, all the laughter, all the inspiration…I love her as much as you do."

Former "NCIS" cast member Lauren Holly tweeted, "You will be missed," while former cast member Sasha Alexander said, "I [love] you @PauleyP! What joy you brought to the world playing #AbbySciuto can't wait to see what's next! #ncis."

"Pauley has been a valued member of both 'NCIS' and the CBS family for over 15 years," said CBS in a statement. "While it's never easy saying goodbye to a beloved actress and character, we respect her decision to leave at the end of the season. We are grateful to Pauley for all her contributions to the series and making Abby one of the most unique characters on television."

"NCIS" executive producers George Schenck and Frank Cardea also released a statement, saying they were working on a special send-off. They added, "From day one, she has brought incredible passion and specificity to the role. Abby is a character that inspires millions of fans around the world, and all of us at 'NCIS' are appreciative of Pauley for portraying her."

This show has been running on fumes for several years now and you are seeing people starting to bail while they still can. The guy who played Tony did the same exact thing.

Cast memebers have come and gone since it started. After 15 years of that filming schedule, no doubt she is tired. With all the reruns, I'm sure she is set for life.

66-year old Leroy Jethro Gibbs survived the “jumping shark” incident by hiding in the “nuked fridge”.

NCIS needs to retire; like 5 years ago!

I never liked the show because of all the reasons I don't like pretty much *any* cop show but my wife may have to go through a mourning period.
I just hope she doesn't have to light the stinky candles as part of the ritual.

Use to LOVE this show. The Jenny Shepard years were the greatest.

I watched a few after Ziva left. Nope...although the writers turned her into a whiny bitch towards the end, I understand why she left.

Watched Dinozzo leave, because I felt like I should...just let it die already.

NCIS LA....used to love it, then it got soap-opera like.

There aren't a whole lot of shows that my wife and I enjoy watching together. This was one of them. We always recorded it and watched it the next night. This year there was a stack of half-a-dozen unwatched shows on the DVR. It's happened before that we went away from the show for awhile, but usually we came back. Myself, I just don't really care for the cast of characters any longer.

Honestly, I think *all* the characters may be leaving this year. I think the series has had it's run.

I was watching an episode of the old show "Early Edition" (1997) the other day and saw she was one of the major guests on that episode.

My Mom simply loves this show. Watches it constantly. My Dad, of blessed memory, got to the point where he could not stand it. Formulaic. They keep churning out episodes for those like my Mom.

But yes, should have wrapped like 5 years ago.

What are you basing this on? (Harmon being anti-gun?) My impression of him has always been very pro-military and I don't know of any anti-gun statements he has made.
