I purposely limited that initial post to actors and their roles in TV and TV mini-series, reason being, there is such a long history of film, and it’s a global…business, industry, artform? The possibilities are endless, and therefore unwieldy. Here are a few that occur to me: Robert Mitchum. Capt. Murrell. The Enemy Below Curd Jürgens. Von Stolberg. The Enemy Below Jack Palance. Jack Wilson. Shane Robert Redford. Jeremiah Johnson. Jeremiah Johnson Will Gear. “Bear Claw” Chris Lapp. Jeremiah Johnson Marlin Brando. Don Vito Corleone. The Godfather So many outstanding performances in this movie, consider Brando representative Tom Cruise. Lt. Daniel Caffee. A Few Good Men Jack Nicholson. Col. Nathan R. Jessup. A Few Good Men Kevin Bacon? Probably Barry Pepper. Pvt. Jackson. Saving Private Ryan Tom Sizemore. Sgt. Horvath. Saving Private Ryan See what I mean? If this thread has legs, I’ll add to my list. _______________________________________________________ despite them

DeNiro (sorry boys) in Heat as Neil McCauley. Just hardcore and ruthless. Damon (sorry again) in Rainmaker. William Dafoe (personal favorite) as Virgil Cole in Flight of the Intruder. I’m as straight as a razor but I love that actor and that role more so than most anything I have ever seen. “I hate SAMS” and “Normally I’m blabby but I sat on this one” and “flow with it” and “Do it Sandy. I’d do it for you!” What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Dafoe, Brad Johnson and even Danny Glover didn’t do a bad job. I read Flight of the Intruder (and the later Jake Grafton) books by Stephen Coonts. The movie wasn’t a terrible adaptation and I loved the Flying Pig getting some screen time. I actually like Dafoe as Marcus in John Wick “Let’s get on with this. Whatever the fuck this is” better than Virgil Cole.
