When I think of her in The Manchurian Candidate as one of the vilest movie villains, I also think about how unnaturally, creepily close she was to her son. She could also play a sweet, but tough, lady. My first recollection as a young boy of her in the movies was her role in Bednobs and Broomsticks. She was an excellent actress. | |||

When I told my Daughter of her passing she told me she had just watched Gaslight last night. She also agreed with Para that her favorite role was in the Manchurian Candidate. And, political and community leaders today, continually twist themselves into knots, attempting to explain why people are leaving urban centers... Lansbury knew the issues and took action, fortunately she had the means to do so. Every time I go into Mendocino, I'm reminded of Lansbury and the opening credits of Murder She Wrote as that's where it was filmed, a tranquil, idilic coastal village | |||

Nothing against her, I think she was a fine actress and did good work... but my late mother in law loved to watch "Murder She Wrote" and I came up with a cinematography term: "The Angela Lansbury Effect"... when ever there was a close up of her she was slightly out of focus.
