Get my pies outta the oven! |
The Warriors was on last night and I got to watch the whole thing uncut and uncensored and no commercials. I was only 6 or so when this came out so it wasn't something I grew up and had never watched the whole movie start to finish. What a strange movie, what strikes me most is how deserted the streets are in the movie the entire time, that can't be accurate can it? Even at the height of the 1970's bad era for NYC, people would have been out and about at night still, right? The soundtrack is really good!

Must be a right age/time and place movie. It came out when I was young and I thought it was the stupidest thing ever. Re-visited when I was older and I thought the same thing. I guess I missed when I should have watched it. In retrospect, had it not been for the gang in baseball uniforms, I probably would have been fine with it. lol

Having worked the midnight shift for 15yrs and having been all over NYC there are times where the streets were empty the only exception would be Times Square there were always people wandering around there.

I remember seeing this when it first came out. I just learned the actor who played Luther, David Patrick Kelly, also played a character named Luther in the film 48 Hrs. with Eddie Murphy, Nick Nolte et al. I had never noticed this before, even though I have seen both films multiple times.

…..and Sully in Commando and Charlie in John Wick and and and. Dude’s been around. Never cared for the Warriors. Before my time I guess. I read somewhere once that it apparently was meant to be an alternate universe or dystopian kind of imagining vs just a simple gang war in New York kinda thing. All that said WHO HASN’T said WARRRRRIOOORSSS……come out and playyyyaaayy "Guns are tools. The only weapon ever created was man."

Okay, I’ll be the alternate opinion. I liked it as a kid and still enjoy it as periodically as an adult. Sure it’s a bit far fetched but it had a lot of cool street gang action for the time. The Riffs owned NYC and Cyrus had a great plan to take full control. In our little Corner of the world, the kids dressed up like the Baseball Fury for Halloween that year. I was always on the lookout for The Lizzies but don’t thing they formed a chapter in our town…. Be on the lookout Boppers We will never know world peace, until three people can simultaneously look each other straight in the eye Liberals are like pussycats and Twitter is Trump's laser pointer to keep them busy while he takes care of business - Rey HRH.
