Remember to avoid a certain acronym per the boss

Most probably knew him best as the cowboy commissioner in Casino.

I was a long time fan, remembering his turns in numerous westerns.

Above all I loved A Boy and His Dog, which he directed.

An amazing, full life.

Easily recognized the face but not the name. Lots of great movies.

A boy and his dog- Never knew and would never of thought he was involved in it. A friend told me to stay and watch it to the end.

Born in Beaumont, Texas, the very first place of which I have any memory.

Didn't recognize the name, looked him up, said "Of course him". Because I've looked him up a few times over the years after seeing him in movies and not being able to put a name to the face.

Wouldn't have guessed him that old, but then I can say the same thing for myself. Where'd the time go...

I saw that on the newsfeed this morning and was sad to hear of his passing. I flipped Gunsmoke on INSP on for a few minutes at lunch today and saw him in a ep (S10:28) with John Saxon. A reviewer on imdb said it was his third of seven appearances. The Virginian came on right afterward; I didn’t get to watch any of it but Jones played Belden, one of the ranch hands, in 27 episodes during its run. And this evening while fixing dinner, he was the leader of the bad guys on Wyatt Earp. I don’t think they moved anything out of broadcast order to honor him either.

He was in lots of show like that with lots of excellent performances over the years.

Wasn't that familiar with him until one trip way back, to San Antonio. Hotel gift shop had a few copies of "The All American Cowboy Cookbook". Bought one. L.Q. had quite a few contributions to it, and some good stories. That aside, he had a very long and very colorful career in TV and movies.
