I had a Citroen GS like this:

Had the same suspension set up and steering wheel as the big brother DS, just a bit smaller. Changing tires was a breeze! Surprisingly nippy for a 1200cc aircooled boxer engine too.

When I was living in Italy on Uncles dime, a neighbor had one and he let me drive it. It was different, but I did not think I would want to own it.
He bitched about not being able to get parts for it in Italy, since to the Italians it was a foreign car!

There was a teacher at the U of Iowa that had two of them , He said that he would drive one when he had to send the other off to Chicago for servicing.

In Germany, the 2CV was often referred to as a "trash can on wheels."

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

No.

And I am not a huge fan of cars, but that is one car I'd like to drive or ride in. I love the look, and they are mechanically interesting.

Mine was strange compared to 'normal' cars. When you got in and turned the ignition on, it would rise up as the suspension pressurised. There were three settings: High (in which the whole of the rear wheel was exposed) used for driving very slowly over rough ground or big puddles and for changing tires, medium, which is the height in my photograph, used for normal driving, and low, used on freeways or interstates. When you parked, and switched off, it would slowly sink down to the stops over a period of time.

The drag co-efficient was so low, I used to routinely get almost 50 mpg on long journeys and high 30s/low 40s around town.

Leno is a pretty big fella , I wonder if a lot of larger than average folks purchased them.

They don't appear tiny like a midget sports car , but they are not like the old Hudson's either

Yup.

My first introduction to the 2CV was in "Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown."

Thank God Snoopy was driving.

No but I got hit by one when I was 12 years old and riding my bicycle into town. He hit me broadside and I slid right up the hood into the windshield...hardly even a bruise!

After you look at them for awhile ,they kinda grow on you. Then you start learning stuff about them and you get a little more interested.

I don't know much about French cars, but my girl is French-American and I asked her father who collects and works on old cars what his favorite good looking French car was.

His answer was the Renault Alpine A110.
