I’ve got an armadillo problem and would like to eliminate them. I dispatched one this morning with a Henry lever action 22 while holding a flash light. I would like to simplify the hunting experience and have a 22 setup with the light and a can. Looking for suggestions.

Things you'll want are a threaded barrel, MLOK or railed foreend for a flashlight mount, and ideally a top rail for an illuminated red dot (or at least a set of fiber optic sights).

Otherwise, the Ruger 10-22 is the Glock 19 of .22s, and there are a number of options available with those three features, especially with some basic aftermarket additions like taking a factory threaded barrel 10-22 and adding a Magpul Hunter stock for MLOK compatibility.

Or if you already own and like AR-15s, there are a number of .22 ARs on the market that would check all those boxes too. For example, the S&W M&P 15-22 is reasonably priced and well regarded.

Threaded 10/22 or RAR bolt gun and there are tons of clamp on lighting options.

I have shot chicken house rats in the dark with a clamp on light and laser combo for years with a Ruger American Rimfire.

I have a thermal on the rail on top with a laser off to one side and the light off the other on the mounts on the thermal.

The thermal is almost useless point blank, so laser and light it is. They are pad activated.

Thanks for the suggestions on the rifles. Actually bought two, a Ruger 10/22 Carbon Fiber, and the M & P 15-22. Both are getting the same setup with red dot, can, and a weapons light.

Just make sure it clears the can.

The 10/22- they sell the Bull Barrels that already come threaded with a cap. Your Carbon Fiber should too.

I'm digging my 15-22 pistol.
No light, but a Sparrow 22 suppressor and a ROMEO-MSR 2MOA red dot.
The red dot came on another rifle I bought.
Only 29" with the brace extended.
