I wonder what they were going for with that. Just to be different? Or perhaps to shave a few tenths of an inch off the diameter and make it slimmer?

But yes, that style likely would work. The main goal for me was to have a more circular/rounded grip area, as opposed to the more blocky/cross-shaped grip area of most of the 3-sided rails.

Here is a older video than might fill in some info for you. ALG Defense is no longer in business as itself. Geissele took over some of the product line when ALG closed. I think it was a family relationship.

I'm alright it's the rest of the world that's all screwed up!

Yep, husband/wife. He was Geissele, she was ALG. (Basically Geissele's budget line.)

I helped a friend assemble his first lower & the complete upper had a MI handguard on it, very much like how it felt in hand.

MWI are dehorned by tumbling them.
I really like mine.
No 1 or 3 position mlock slots though and I use an offset mount for my light.
Not a big deal really but it's kinda nice to not have to add anything to one that has it.
I like smooth bottom rails as well without the large shelf at the rear.

It's been a few years since I went handguard shopping, so what do you like in 2025 for free float AR handguards with the following criteria:
- 15 inches
- Continuous top rail
- 7-sided MLOK slots (not just 3/6/9)
- Relatively lightweight
- $250ish or less (so a step or two below Geissele/Daniel Defense/Zev/etc.)

Bonus points if it's available from the factory in green/tan/brown color, but that's not a requirement.

Don't plan on nesting any suppressors or the like, so don't need oversized.

Have you looked at the Strike Industries Gridlock series? They don't have a continuous top rail but they have MLOK on top so you can add rail sections as needed.

I have SLR Solo Lite and Aero that I'm happy with. One I've been looking at for a future build is Griffin SR in Terra Brown color.

I have a few SIGs.

SLR Rifleworks have been my go-to for handguards.

I have a couple of ALG handguards, a couple of 10" and 15". I have an older 10" in their Dessert Dirt color and it looks just like new.

I wish they did more then just black now. I would like to see DD back, OD, and gray.

I like the ALG handguard, and the Bravo Company the best. Like to see a BCM kmr or mloc in Olive Drab.

Anyway, I just got a new ALG handguard in 15" the other day and the price was right, the quality is good so, I'm happy! Building an 18" medium weight barrel with rifle length gas system with a break ( and old ALG single chamber break, no longer made ) as a fun/competition gun.
