Local AR15 manufacturer, about 20 miles from where I live in Cary, NC. Some of the local gun stores stock them and say they’re excellent, and have also said many the local police departments use them. But they don’t seem to have any sort of national footprint. What do you guys think of them?

I had their CQB model for a few years and it was a nice mid-tier rifle. I’d say it’s very much on par with BCM’s offerings. I actually just traded it recently towards a 1301 Mod.2 but only because I have plenty of other ARs to satisfy my needs. Fuquay Gun is a dealer for them and has them from time to time. I had read somewhere that Cary PD had been issuing them for a while but I’m not sure if that still holds true or not.

They’re decent rifles. I’ve known the owner Andrew Barnes. He is enthusiastic about his product to say the least. They’ve moved around in law enforcement, some agencies adopting them but then moving away from them for one reason or another. I’ve heard mixed reviews from many but always heard that the factory took care of them. It’s just that AR competition is steep and they’ve just never really done anything to make them stand out. ----------------------------------------------- What's the sense in working hard if you never get to play?

Never heard of them but just checked out their website. They can kiss my ass with those prices, their product doesn't look special in any way. IDPA ESP SS

I grabbed one of their base models from the aforementionedFuquay Gun shop. It’s a well-made unit, with a 15 inch rail, something of a slightly heavier barrel, and everything was very tight and well fitted. Just your basic throw away butt stock and A2 pistol grip, which were replaced with Magpul stuff. They had it for $699 which is about the same as a Smith & Wesson or Ruger, but seems a lot better. A couple of the sales guys at Fuquay raved about them, they have nothing to gain in doing so, they sell hundreds of guns every week anyway. If something goes sideways, it’s literally a 20 minute drive to the shop. I drive further for groceries some days

Not sure if you bought it new or used, but if it happens to have an ambi safety and a Magpul CTR stock - it’s the one I traded in. Either way - congrats on your new rifle.

I bought a CBQ in 2016. I feel it's a well built gun. Currently I have a Comp M5 on it. When I grab a AR to go shooting with it's usually the one I grab. And believe me, I have plenty to choose from.

Stormin, it was new. I got an e-mail flyer from Fuquay about some weekly sales, and they were knocking it down from $8something to $699. Snapped one up.
