I'm not looking for a free float rail. I'm looking for an M4 quad railed handguard that is held in place by the delta ring at the rear, and the round handguard ring that's part of the front sight tower.

The KAC RAS M4 is the O.G. one used by the military. Surplus RAS rails used to be cheap and widely available on AR15.com or eBay, though I don't know if that's still the case.

Troy also makes what you're looking for:

As does Midwest Industries:

I used a DD Omega on my midlength. It was not cheap, but it worked perfectly and is rock solid.

I had a Troy version and it fit well and much cheaper than a KAC. PSA has the enhanced Battle rail for $138.

I don’t know if they still make them, but I have a Surefire drop-in quad rail on a mid-length upper. I think they used to make a Carbine length also.

Surefire doesn't make them anymore. I have the mid and two carbine-length. I like them a lot. They're kind of spendy now, I think, because they aren't produced anymore. One nice thing about the SF is the OD of the rail is actually smaller than others. This means the top rail of the handguard actually sits lower than the top of the receiver though, which could be a problem for some users.

No love for UTG?

Aluminum is aluminum. Sure, some machining may be different, but I can't see spending a lot of $$ for a quad rail.

JMHO, YMMV

If it's solid, it's solid. I think not all UTG stuff is US-made though, so that's something to look out for. Also, the spendier ones are probably going to be lighter. You don't get more for less. Many a UTG has been bought only to be later replaced.

Here's one at PSA.

I have a fiberglass reinforced one from the 1980's that fits round or triangle front caps.
