Rubber can be replaced. And in fairness a Spear-Lt can be fixed by adding an Arisaka MCX zero retention clamp

UPDATE!

I received the buttstock back from SIG and it's perfect, replacing the buttpad with a new unit.

As far as the dust cover, SIG got back saying that part is considered a part that subject to wear, thus not covered under warranty. He did say that SIG will be able to service it and replace it for a cost of $100 and I would need to send them the barreled stripped upper. I made arrangements this morning, so most likely I'll be shipping it out at the end of the week.

Some might think that $100 is a lot for this replacement but, when you consider that these use unique rivets and availability of this part, I think it's a good deal.

$100 is very fair. The rivets and the covers are less of a problem than the tool to install the rivets.

I forgot to mention that while talking to him, he expressed that there's a lot of people complaining about the rubber parts going bad.

UPDATE!
So I mentioned earlier that SIG replaced my buttpad under warranty as seen below.

I also sent my SIG556 upper, so they can replace the degraded rubber, dust covers for $127.50. This included a paid shipping label received to send it to them and the return shipping.

They did a good job and about a week back and forth... Very happy with their customer service and she's finally back together.
