Roller delay blowback is the new hotness these days, but is there still a demand for old school direct blowback without any delay or buffering mechanism? Always looking for something different, so I decided to pick up a AK-V (actually marked SA-V). Picked it up two days ago and took it to the range yesterday, after ditching the huge ugly muzzle brake and slapping on an optic. The ALG trigger is fantastic! Ran completely reliable, decent accuracy, and wasn’t too gassy suppressed. Kind of fun, actually. I think I’ll keep it.

I would keep it if you like it. I always chuckle when the topic of 9mm carbine recoil comes up. I hate to be the “get to the gym” guy but fucks sake, 9mm is easy in a pistol. lol

Nowadays my 9mm carbine choices tend to center around the magazine. I almost bought a pristine used Striborg until I realized they were proprietary mags. Umm nope. I can deal with Colt pattern, scorpion, a few others perhaps but striborg?

I have been looking at those too, so far, the only thing I have ever had to return to PSA was a Armalite AR-9 which they were selling and it was a production error from Armalite, great customer service. So,I would say not crazy in my book. Good company with a great product

I've had one for about 6 years or so. Always been reliable and a fun gun to shoot. I SBR'd mine so I put a Magpul MOE stock on it, and getting ready to put a suppressor on it. It's one of my most fun range guns, and I wouldn't hesitate to grab it in case of trouble.

Here's to the sunny slopes of long ago.

I submitted the Form 1 the day after I got it. Undecided which stock to go with. Thinking either a simple folding triangle stock, or the MI Alpha stock for the modernized vibe.

I'm very pleased with my PSA AKV that I SBR'd and equipped with Magpul grips, and ALG trigger, an HK type tri-lug for my Dead Air Wolfman suppressor, a Holosun green dot optic, and an A3 Industries polymer (1913 rail) folder with cheek riser (perfect for the optic). Just got to be cautious flipping the safety off as the edges are quite sharp.

Blowback 9mm carbines can be surprisingly sharp. Comparing them to locked-breech 9mm pistols is apples to oranges.

It's not usually unpleasant, but blowback 9mm carbines with heavy bolts can thump more than you might expect.

Yes but go compare the times of USPSA guys shooting handguns vs. the guys who have adopted PCC.

PCCs are undeniably faster. More importantly, though. They are a tremendously fun range toy that allows shooting steel at any safe distance whereas rifles will chew up steel at 100 yards or less. They are also an excellent and inexpensive training platform for young or small stature shooters, that suppress well.

AK-Vs are fun, but for a sub-$1k blowback 9mm braced pistol that uses Scorpion mags, I think I'd rather have a Wraithworks Warscorp.
