Ruger 10/22, bolt action vs semi-auto Login/Join

I prefer manual action .22LR rifles to semiautos, especially as suppressor hosts. I do enjoy my 10/22 but greatly prefer my 77/22. The PWS Summit (now done by Volquartsen) is a neat one too but it's less precise than either the 10/22 or 77/22. Still a fun suppressor host. All of these use 10/22 magazines.

I really want one of these but the price is scaring me off. A take-down, suppressor-ready, bolt action .22LR is very appealing to me. It also uses 10/22 magazines.

Now you feel my pain. I didn’t even know this thing existed until I saw it in a local shop a few weeks ago. I’ve been trying to convince myself not to buy one. My head tells me to be patient and wait for a decent deal. My gut tells me to just bite the bullet and buy one. The market for this has to be small, especially at this price, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they quit making them. I’ve been trying to reduce my collection for the most part and only adding stuff I know I’ll use. This is one I’d use for sure.

Look, TacSol stuff was NEVER cheap. And instead of a 100-200% markup, it's probably just a 25% markup. If that. If you have the means, to it because I want a range report ASAP since I might be right behind you.

If I could get one for $850 I'd be all over it. After shipping, tax, and FFL fees it will end up being right around $1100. At that price it gives me pause but I know I'll end up getting one. In fact, I just sold another pistol so I've got plenty in my gun fund to cover it. I might order one after I pick up that check.

I've had a few Tactical Solutions items over the years and still have these two Rugers with Pac-Lite uppers. They weren't priced too badly whenI bought the first one (non-threaded) in 2009. I think it was $160. Their prices seemed to rise as their product line grew. I think the threaded Pac-Lite was $350 or so a few years later without the optics rail.

Between work travel and scarce ammo I don’t know when I’ll get to shoot it but it’s a pretty nifty setup. I do wish they would have milled an optic rail into the receiver or at least included the rail with the rifle. $50 on top of the cost of the rifle hurt a little.

I’ll have to get better photos later.

One annoying thing about the Ruger American Rimfire is that they changed the spacing of the scope rail holes on top of the receiver so 10/22 rails will not fit. Mad
