I’ve been in the mood for a non-AR 5.56 (this was long before the other thread in this section was posted) and I’ve always thought the Bushmaster ACR was cool. One popped up locally. Black, 5.56, and $2k. First, is that a good price? It seems to be based on other listings I’ve seen through the years. Second for those who have owned one, how did you like it? The specific concern for me is repair parts since they’re no longer made.

$2K seem high to me. I remember when they first came out and people claimed they were vastly overpriced and cost nearly $2K when Magpul had promised it would be half that when they were developing it as the Masada. Although, since Magpul never actually manufactured the gun, it’s impossible to know whether they could have actually met their claimed price point.

$2k for a black one is low market right now. That said, a CZ Bren 2 is a better option to scratch that itch. (I own both)

For a novelty gun, I wouldn't sweat that too hard. A quick google does reveal some reports of breakage (recoil spring and firing pin). The report of the spring was apparently from an early gun, before the spring was revised to a flat wire. The firing pins are apparently replaceable with aftermarket. Both of those are parts you could have made as well.

I like mine and finally got it in the original masada config I wanted of 6.5G. I like that you can easily swap barrels in and out of the stock barrel swap setup with just a few pins so it basically still takes AR barrels. No complaints and I've had it for a while now.

I got mine for $1,200 about 5 years ago and it is fun to shoot. Not sure I would pay $2K for one today. I like the ACR better than the Daewoo DR200 and MSAR AUG copy I had back in the day. NRA Life Member

I like the looks of them. I could have had one last year for around $1500 and I passed unfortunately but now, $2k is on the cheap side of things, depending on what variant you get.

Highly recommend the Bren 2. Unlike the ACR, it is now combat-proven in Ukraine, and it's developing a reputation for reliability. I really like mine, wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for something ACR/SCAR-esque. I wanted one of those or both and it handily scratched that itch. There is also the PSA JAKL, which is starting to call my name. ______________________________________________ “There are plenty of good reasons for fighting, but no good reason ever to hate without reservation, to imagine that God Almighty Himself hates with you, too.”

I actually did end up buying a Bren 2 instead, should be here today. Decided that $2k for a firearm that likely can’t be repaired if broken was too much and got a great deal on an 11” Bren 2 at $1300. Excited to give it a try.

Awesome! Welcome to the club. I fully expect you'll like it. Curious to see pics and what's changed as far as the endplate on the receiver since the brace ruling. ______________________________________________ “There are plenty of good reasons for fighting, but no good reason ever to hate without reservation, to imagine that God Almighty Himself hates with you, too.”
