I think if it were single shot or held less than five rounds you don't need a permit. Anything considered "large capacity" you need an LTC Class A here in MA.

Interesting discussion. So the stock color is actually intentional. Never thought about a gun dedicated to LL shot.

I didn't take the extended mag into consideration.

Did I miss it, or do you have any idea what PD it came out of? Any markings? Seller know?

Interesting gun.

Is the stock actually a paint or some sort of thick stain? I can't tell from the pic.

Thanks for posting.

Should the updated version of the Chack-Chack speech include that one is such a hardass that he supplies his own evidence boxes for when the perp is eviscerated by 3" magnum double-ought buck?

Oh yeah, I've seen those. It is a limited "Jimmy Buffet Parrothead" edition. I think Davidson's did a run several years ago. To be completely authentic you also need the accessories: flip flops, cutoffs, a Hawaiian shirt and a parrot hat.

Well, police depts do this, perhaps not all of them. It's not something that a civilian should be concerned with. As in, it's information for the person wielding the shotgun, not actually for anyone on the receiving end.

The concern brought up about not loading this gun with regular rounds, that was expressed earlier, is not at all my concern.

No markings, American used police guns are not typically marked with any regularity that I've seen. It would be nice, if they followed Ze Germans and other European countries. The seller knows that they sold their guns to an FFL. He did mention what town it came from but I'd have to ask again. One where it spent a lot of time racked or being driven around and little else.

It's molded plastic.

Arc,

Are your stocks "Speedfeed" marked?

I carried a similar gun for years in the trunk next to a lethal shotgun. Admin decided, even with the orange furniture, that It was too much of a liabilty concern. I gave the LL up and kept the lethal.

When the LL guns were first introduced here, they were effective. Every crazy guy got shot and there was some misuse. With the Taser now carried the LL gun has filled a much smaller role for us.

One thing is for sure, the public doesn't understand the difference between a bean bag gun and a lethal gun when someone is shot. They automatically assume its a lethal gun.

Mayhaps a blue and green camo pattern added would spruce it up a bit?

No, no markings. I thought the speedfeed stocks carried some shells in the buttstock. This doesn't have that.

Great deal- Mossies get a bum rap a lot of the time, but they are solid, functional shotties.

I always lusted after one of the Wilson Combat 870s, but really, not necessary. Mossbergs do get a bum rap.

I have a soft spot for combat shotguns, cheap ones all the more. My two most regretted failure to buys were the CMMG M3 folders and a beautiful Model 12 riot.

I have sent new Ithaca an email asking if they had considered putting out a non-nfa "sockwave" stakeout to no reply. I would love to have something for close encounters.

That is a nice find.

Seems like when it comes to Police guns the Less Lethal and well used shot guns are at the bottom of the barrel price wise. I was able to get two Smith & Wesson Model 3000 for $150 each a few years back.

Arc: Here's my "Mossberg".

Actually, an old '50's 870 I put a Mossberg-made riot barrel on.

Works good.

One thing to check on that might not be readily apparent (as it normally "seems" to function perfectly) in Mossberg 500/590 shotgun functionality is to put the thumb safety in "fire" mode and then slam the slide back hard several times. If the thumb safety goes to the "on" position after a a few very vigorous racks, then it's likely the firing pin retaining pin. Mossberg seems to source them from a variety of makers and some are really soft crap. They bend and peen over and the firing pin gets past it a little on the rear of the bolt, not far, but far enough, and then when you do a hard slide rack, it sticks out just far enough to push the thumb safety back partially into the safe position and the trigger suddenly wont pull.

When I say "readily" apparent problem, I mean that even if it has this problem (popping the safety into on position), it functions normally generally, except on rare occasion after a very hard slide rack. Seems pretty rare, but something to check since you can buy a new firing pin retaining pin for next to nothing. Or if you actually break the bolt down that far, you can inspect the pin visually, but it's not easily visible and it only manifests itself on the safety moving from fire to on after very hard slide manipulation (and then you think it was yourself that must have bumped the safety).

FYI I've had numerous Mossberg 500's and the only one this happened to was the most expensive "military spec" 590A1.. Go figure..

I fondled one in a shop a few years ago. Great fit & finish. Never seen a pump shotgun that cycled so smoothly. But they're pricey for what effectively is a massaged Remington.

I'd have bought one, but it wasn't clear exactly who was being massaged.
