SIG4EVADD DDM4v7 Optic LPVO or Red Dot+Magnifier
I have a DDM4v7 that I want to set up for action shooting competitions or 3 gun. My first thought is get a LPVO (Primary Arms Plxc 1-8 SFP) and be done. Most of my rifles are red dots. I've also entertained getting a Trijicon MRO and magnifier.
What do you guys think would be the best option?

MikeGLII don't love a magnifier, so my vote is the LPVO. I'd get one with a true (or as true as possible) 1x that fits your budget so you dont need to mess with an offset/top mounted red dot. Be sure to do a little research on the mount and how to set the LPVO to get proper eye relief.

JonDaddy82For a game gun, 1-8 LVPO all day, not even a question.
My go to war rifles are generally red dot's and magnifiers since most 1-8's are not nearly as durable and I try to keep the weight down.

Lefty Sigthe P.A. PLXc 1-8 SFP with the fiber dot is about perfect for what you want. Get the folding throw lever to have more to grab for fast magnification changes.
Red dot bright, and you can get it with BDC hashes if you like.

jljonesThe MRO would be my last choice for a red dot. They don’t transmit light really well in low light. And they are really sketchy under NODS.

Agreed. The PLXc is a fantastic LPVO, and the ACSS Nova reticle is truly Red Dot Bright as advertised, unlike most other LPVOs whose illuminated reticles can't quite keep up in bright sunlight.
Or if your budget is more limited, the cheaper Primary Arms SLX version punches way above its ~$350 price, with fantastic quality for the price range and the same Red Dot Bright reticle, though the glass isn't quite as nice as the fancier PLXc and it's a little heavier.
They just came out with a new generation version of the SLX with a 10x top end, so we might see that coming to the PLXc too in the future.

SIG4EVAThank you guys for the advice. I've done the research but wanted to make sure I didn't miss any considerations.
