My bro is going to get his first AR for Christmas. He's dead set on a
Sterling Arsenal SAR-XV Mod3 AR-15 .
Seems fine to me but really overpriced. Has anybody tried these out before? Pretty sure I could build one for half the price. Do they have a reputation or something maybe I don't know about?
I totally get it when a firearm tickles your fancy or whatever, personally I'd much rather get a BCM or something.
Thanks!
Go ahead punk, make my day Definitely looks overpriced to me, especially when some of the components are no-name ("Aluminum flip up sights, MLOK rail). Hey if it gets your brother in the AR game, let him have at it. But I'm with you - I'd take a Colt, BCM, or LMT or roll my own before buying that.
Member Since he’s set on it just compliment that it looks cool and go shooting with him to ring in the new year.
$1400 isn’t so bad, if he was looking at some boutique AR over $2500 I could see feeling a duty to talk him out of it.

Yeah he really has his heart set and I don't want to break it. I was just hoping there was something special I didn't know about it.
Member Looks like a massively overpriced no name parts gun with some bottom tier features. He can have the same quality for half the price by buying a PSA.
Tell your brother to buy a LMT mrp mlok or a Centurion C4 instead. Other contenders are Colt ( if the Coltpocalypse weren’t in effect), DD, and BCM.
