We know these rigs are fairly heavy on their own. So not wanting something that adds significant weight. Variable mag. would be nice. Illumination not not a must be would be ok too.

I have an Aimpoint ML-2 I could trade. So that is about the value I need to spend.
I prefer not to do Chicom or the like. I know that will limit my choices.

Any suggestions? Thanks guys and gals.

What barrel length and what distances do you want to shoot at and how accurate?

Are you looking for low or high mag optics?

A Vortex Razor 1-6x would cover lots of ground out to 400 yards. Past that, you might want 4.5-14x if you're looking for something more precise.

You need to tell us how you envision using your rifle.

Tony.

Thanks Benny, 18" barrel. 50yds to 250yard. 400yds max would be more than acceptable. MOA out to 250 or close would be great.

Shooting from standing, bench rest or prone? All three? Steel plates, busting clays or paper targets? Torso hits or deer/pig/animal vitals?

B, An AR10 is a pretty versatile platform so any of those things could be a possibility. It is not generally a bench rest rifle but using one for occasional use is possible also.

I started with a 1-8 on mine.
Then got a 4-16, it added 3 pounds with the mount.
It's now just a scope in the drawer.

A NF 2.5-10x42 gets put on when I want to shoot it.
I've been looking pretty hard at the NF NX8 1-8 for another rifle. Short, light and I like the reticle.

Would you consider PAs Glx or Plx options? I believe they make them in the Philippines for the GLX. I forget about the P series.

Thanks Anub. The 1-6 Glx is $400. Might be a consideration.

Would love that NF but no budget for that unfortunately.

The Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x24 might be the ticket. The FFP version is $800 but the SFP version is $600. The reticle seems to allow for holdovers.

Way cheaper than the Razor.

Because the Strike Eagle line is made in China.

How much would you pay for a well used but fully functional SWFA 1-6x24 with mount? Believe it is made in Japan. Thanks guys.

It''s Chinesium, but i just put a new PA SLx 1-6 with the Nova reticle on my AR10 and couldn't be happier. Less than a pound and a half with the Aero mount.

If I'm not mistaken, PA's optics are chicom made. That's why they're so freaking inexpensive.

The PLX models are made in Japan, the mid priced one are made in Philippines and the cheapest are made in China.

IMO the time you get to the expensive ones might as well go with some other brands.

I put a Steiner 5x fixed on my SIG SG751 SAPR and a Trijicon ACOG on my POF Rogue (which is a super lightweight AR15 patterned 7.62 NATO platform).

AR10's are going to be 10lbs or more with any proper scopes on them so really comes down to how you want to use it.

I built an Aero M5 with a 16" barrel. I put a Leupold VX-5HD 2x10x42 on it. Its heavy and I have a bad right shoulder so its always going to be a bipod gun. Probably going to put an 18" barrel on it down the road.

I have a similar build to gw, Aero M5 with 16” .308 barrel and Primary Arms 2.5-10 GLx. It is a heavy sucker, but had no problems putting a first time rifle shooter behind it and, using the BDC, banging steel at 600yds. I really like my PA 2.5-10.

Save up some money, sell some things you don’t need, grab a DEMO Nightforce from Eurooptic in NXS 2.5-20x50 with Nightforce ultra light rings in the 1.5” height. Or a DEMO NXS Nightforce 1-8x24 with the same rings.

David, that sounds like an awesome optic. I just do not see that happening though. But it is a pig too.
In a perfect world probably a Trijicon or Kahles would be my dream scope.
