Info on entry level ar
Hi, looking to get an ar probably entry level. Is there any major difference between say sig, colt, Ruger, or Springfield. Someone suggested palmetto also. Pricing is around 500 up to 800 with the same magpul accessories.

Are you open to the idea of assembling your own lower or do you want to buy a complete rifle?

I built my first lower on a coffee table using a pair of vice grips with the jaws wrapped in tape to press roll pins into place, just FYI. It's not hard.

Snag a $40 lower in your local gun shop if you can and build with this, also a good option:

I’d throw the Smith & Wesson M&P Sport II in the mix as a good entry level rifle, as well. With prices the way they are right now however, I’d probably go with a Colt 6920.

This is another recent thread on entry level ARs...basic info on the different manufacturers...

That Ruger 556 MPR rifle that SigSentry posted the link to is a very GOOD buy with the upgrades...just the trigger alone is around $100...the rifle length gas system is also great plus especially with the full float M-LOK hand guard Cool

You couldn't buy those parts for that price. Screaming deal.

Yes it is...especially it being a mid-length...that is another rifle to consider for a first AR...

Just remember the GREAT advice Para posted in his "things are quiet now...buy what you need" thread from a few years ago...for now things are still somewhat quiet and there are some good buys out there...

Take advantage of them Cool

It might also be a good time to re-read LDD's excellent "Panic" sticky (or read it for the first time, if you are new or just haven't) at the top of the Rifle Room page.

I recently picked up a FN 15 Carbine.

FN 15 Carbine link

I have a few ARs already but I really liked that it is basic, no-frills and light weight. It comes with a metal FN 30 round mag and detachable carry handle. As all things are from FN it is very well made. The finish on it is outstanding. No rough or machine marks and a nice very dark black color. Made by FN America in Columbia SC.

Picked it up at the local gun store, they had several. Best of all, the price was $640

I have built ARs but you are getting a great rifle ready to go for about the same price as trying to put one together. And it’s FN

My Ruger AR-556 has ~350 rounds through it, no failures to feed, fire or eject. The bolt failed once to lock back on the last round, but this has thus far not repeated.

Here is a decent priced FN,

I don’t know much about the seller but should be pretty easy to check on.

Good luck with your quest.
