Modern stock for a pre-64 model 70 Login/Join

Hey all-

I have an early-1950's Winchester model 70 in .270
Family heirloom and it's my favorite rifle.
I would like to take it mountain hunting in a modern lightweight stock both to save wear on the wood and to decrease the weight.

Does anyone know of a carbon fiber or similar type stock being made for pre-64's?
I want something high quality because the gun shoots like a laser in the old wood and I don't want that to change.

Thanks,

Bruce

Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams

Thanks! That is the only one I have found. Glad to hear they're well regarded.
Any other options, I wonder?

Bruce

There are but you would be getting into some coin that would be on the lines of a custom build. You could get a flat top and have it inletted. I don't have a pre 64 but do have 3 win model 70. One a classic mid 90s CRF that I have at LRI getting converted to a featherweight from a sporter. You could give them a call, the stocking department, and see if they have a recommendation for a synthetic pre 64 stock.
