I've chopped and lopped shtoguns and rifles for years {staying within the legal limits so's not to have to go the SBR/S route}.

To be honest, I've never found muzzle blast to be much of a big deal at all. As noted above, even one of my 9.3x62's has a 16.5 inch tube and it's not troublesome.

Admittedly, I am plagued by tinnitus, so feel free to take my assessment with a grain of salt.
