I've been on the hunt for one of these again after having owned a couple of really nice ones. Locally hard to come across but I broadened my search and came up with this 2008 model. In very nice condition , the best looking CZ bolt action made is the American model IMO. It just looks right, great porportions, beautiful walnut stocks, and nicely blued receiver and barrel. I just like to look at them, but I will take it out and see if it shoots as good as it looks. Always good to get a new gun, right?

My shooting pal, Bryn, bought one of these lovely little rifles for his first-ever foray into shooting.

It is a total delight from muzzle to buttplate and shoots most stuff into a raggedy ten shot hole at 50m with his Hawke scope.

As with the OP's the wood is far superior to anything else at the money. His is around ten/twelve years old, and cost less than $300. He will NEVER need another multi-use rifle than this.

If anybody here remembers when Kimber made their rifles in Oregon and the words branded on the wooden transit box? The sheer quality of those rifles back then is repeated in these lovely guns - just look at the transition from barrel to action - isn't that just sooooooo nice?

One of my favorite guns(that I actually own)! Very accurate and well made.

With a suppressor it is quieter than a pellet gun.

I wish there was a good way to shorten the barrel and make it into a super handy farm gun.

I recommend getting CZ scope rings for it, the dovetail is a weird size, and a weaver fit is not quite right.

I agree, my first .22lr is a 452 American. I liked it so much that I grabbed an iron sighted model from a shop that stockpiled them long after they were discontinued. Some of the used ones for sale at Old Western Scrounger tempt me. Stock up on some metal magazines so you don’t have to stick a plastic one in there.

I'm good on magazine I have several polymer and steel ones. Also very familar with the scope rail dimensions. But good to point it out for those who don't know. Big Grin

Owned one like that for many years. Probably got it around 2009. It’s a favorite of mine. Shoots like a dream, big rifle quality in a .22.
Perfect for teaching bolt rifle basics.

Nice rifle I sure enjoy mine. The challenge will be finding a nice *gloss* scope to match your polished blued 452.

I've got an American in 22 and it's a pleasure to shoot. I've really slowed down on range time and now it just sits, has a 2x7 Leupold on it. Everything I'd read about CZ 452s was positive and I can see why.

I improved the trigger on mine when I got it. (.17M2) There may be aftermarket help now but DIY tutorials should still be available online. Some years later I free floated the barrel on mine just for the heck of it to see if it improved anything.

My only "complaint" would be the UN-American safety. But you get used to it.

I bought this one off another gun forum and I forgot to ask if the trigger was unaltered. When I had it in hand I found the trigger to be wonderful. I text the previous owner and he said it was that way when he got it. But someone definately has worked on it. I'm grateful its a great trigger.

I have the shorter barreled 457 ProVarmint model. It's a tack driver, and suppressed all you hear is "tick".

I have a 453 single set trigger that is my favorite.
Tied for second place is my 452HB and Tikka T1X.
All 3 are great shooters and hold great groups at 100 yards.

The often less-than-great standard CZ trigger can be fixed in five minutes with a $7 trigger spring set.

Love me some CZ 22’s. All 3 of these guns will shoot dime sized or smaller 5 shot groups at 50yds with good ammo.

CZ 452 American 16
CZ 452 Super Exclusive
CZ 457 Varmint
