Another beautiful Fall day and after working on some trail cleanup / firewood I treated myself to a little range time with the 457 American. This rifle came as a dual caliber with both ,22LR and 17HMR barrels and magazines but I've only shot the .22 so far and that's what is on it now. Every time I shoot these CZ rimfire I'm impressed just how solid, well designed, and accurate they are. Well accurate enough for me anyway and this is with the trigger as from the factory so fairly stiff. From 100' on a rest most every magazine of 10 were all within an inch and many were touching. Then I got the open sight AR out and shot 40 rounds standing, we won't talk about those targets! I need to practice more with it but all the rest of my ammo is green tip and I didn't want to shoot into my trap with that. I need to order a couple cases of .556 target. Next I backed up to 150' with the CZ and naturally my groups opened up but still 13 of 15 were well within 2". No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Very nice and beautiful wood. Jury is still out because it's very new, but my CZ 457 may become my favorite bolt .22 LR. You might find dropping a Timney trigger in yours to be a worthwhile upgrade. ____________ Pace

I love the Timney trigger and have one that has a Timney in it, but you can make a pretty nice trigger from the OEM trigger. Yo Dave spring kit will help tremendously. Also your 457 is adjustable so if you haven't tried that there are good instructions on line. Just follow the instructions to the letter and it may be good enough for you. Hard to beat a CZ bolt action. JEREMIAH 33:3

Thanks pace. I'll try adjusting it as mentioned and I've heard that Yo Dave's spring works well as well. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Nice rifle. I’d like to get a 22LR CZ I have one in 17 hornet it’s a fun rifle to smack squirrels and such. 20 grain bullet cooking along at 3500 fps turns vermin inside out.

The wood on that gun is super nice. My 457 Varmint is a nice shooter but my 452 Super Exclusive edges it out in accuracy.

Thanks, it was luck of the draw because the gun shop had to special ordered it for me. I have a 452 Ultra Lux, is that similar to the Super Exclusive only with beech rather than walnut stock? No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

I think they are very similar. Here is a pic of mine and groups with Eley Match.

Great shooting, usncorpsman! I'm no where close given my Ultra Lux has open sights (and I'm not that accurate even with a scope). But I usually shoot with open sights because that's how most of my rimfires are. One nice thing is the long barreled Ultra Lux or Super Exclusive shooting standard velocity is almost as quiet as a pellet rifle. I really need to take better pictures maybe more like yours on grass. When I had them all out to wipe down I leaned them against a stack of firewood to take pictures thinking it'd make an interesting background. But bad idea, after seeing them on the computer the rifles blend in with the wood. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Yes, great shooting. As I say, results like that are not due only to the rifle and ammunition; the shooter must perform as well. ► 6.0/94.0 “I can’t give you brains, but I can give you a diploma.” — The Wizard of Oz
