and it needed a little love. Grabbed a rag and some hoppes oil and started wiping it down to remove some dust bunnies and lint, etc. Unloaded and mag removed and opened the rear pin and pivoted the lower and upper open. Pulled the charging handle and bolt and carrier group out and wiped them down. Also wiped the inside of the upper receiver. Oiled the trigger group down in the lower. Barrel looked good. Put back together and rewiped the exterior down. Man she looked good. It is a PSA lower and upper that were bought at the same time. The price was super great. It has a 16" stainless barrel. The trigger is decent. Fit and finish are pretty darn good for my standards. Don't have tons of shots down range but never a malfunction. Has a very nice Shepard LPVO 1-6 on it. A bit of a pig, but my pig and I like it. At the range I usually get a "whoa, what is that?" from someone there Do I like it, yeah I do. I remember during the Iraqi war a YT video of a small Blackwater group iirc shooting them at Iraqi troops from an elevated perch. I am a big fan of them and the .308 Cartridge. Here is an article on them that I liked. While it's not a Knights, Noveske, Wilson, Barrett or even a POF. It is mine, it works, was with in budget and like mentioned. Can modify some if I feel like it. Otherwise I am happy and content as is and confident it will perform when I want or need to use it. https://www.arbuildjunkie.com/...dvice-rifle-options/ Hope you enjoy guys. You all have a great weekend and keep those things wiped down and maintained. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

Good deal. .308 ARs are a hoot, and a great option for a "do-all rifle".
You say that now, but once you've come to the dark side with a ~7 pound new style Small Frame .308 AR, you'll never want to return to the old 12+ pound large pattern .308s.
I will note that this article is 8 years old, and stuff has changed in the .308 AR space in the intervening period. For one, several of the rifles they recommend are no longer in production. For another big one, much of the article is about Aero rifles, but Aero is basically defunct. Production has stalled for the past many months, they've been under massive financial strain for years, they're being hounded by creditors, and they're currently in receivership heading either towards a bankruptcy sale or simply going out of business. And for another, it references DPMS, which went bankrupt alongside its parent company Remington in 2020. The brand was bought by Palmetto's parent company, and they are making rifles under that brand again, but are currently basically just PSA with a different logo. (DPMS were one of the originators of the SF .308 with their G2 .308 rifles over a decade ago, but those designs haven't been brought back under the new owners, just the big chunky SR-25-style boys like PSA was already making.)

While they do talk about Aero, much of the article is still relevant, imho. To be honest Rogue. Those lighter style AR .308's don't do much for me. I will take my pig "Practice like you want to play in the game"

I peiced one together from an aero M5 receiver set and I love it. 18 inch barrel and a 5x25 scope for my old eyes. I typically shoot it at paper from 100 and 200 yards but I take it to 600 yards atleast twice a year for the past 4 years and I always leave proud. In case you didn't know, brass goat makes a shell catcher for the ar10 now and it is very effective. First In Last Out

I've got a PSA AR-10 lower and stainless upper with a LaRue trigger and an old Nikon scope that I put together. It shoots better than I can. It's been very dependable on my trips to the range. I'd definitely recommend it, especially when it come to the money involved. Here's to the sunny slopes of long ago.
