I bought a Burris RT-6 scope from Cabela’s, taking advantage of the various holiday discounts and mounted it on my new Black Rain Ordnance Fallout 15 only to find out that it has a black speck in it about 1/3 the way from the center at about 4:30. It really isn’t in the way but it is an irritant and I am concerned that if it is from the finish flaking off the inside of the scope that there may be more. Would you recommending exchanging it?

Is it a speck or a tiny number 4 for the ranging? I only ask because I have the same scope and was concerned when I first looked through mine.

Well, I'll be damned.... I checked out the image of the reticle on the Cabela's webvsite and you are right. It is a '4'!! Don't I feel like an idiot. Thank you!

Burris has excellent customer service. They would likely take care of you if Cabela's won't exchange it.

I would get it exchanged or have Burris fix/replace it for you.

You paid for an optic in peak condition. You shouldn't settle for less.

If it looks more like a speck than a number 4, you may need to adjust the diopter on your scope to make the reticle crisp to your eyes.

I had done that. Image of the reticle was sharp. It's very small, and since it was unexpected I didn't see that it actually was a number 4.

Thank you. Much appreciated. I just turned 58 and enjoyed excellent vision until several years ago. Have spent quite a bit of money on glass since then. Eyes just ain't what they used to be!

I think all Burris is made in Colorado, but am not 100% on that. I like it. It is the 2nd Burris scope I have bought in the past few months. It is just infuriating that neither came with lens covers!

Glad I could help. I thought mine was messed up for sure until I adjusted the diopter a bit. It’s still ridiculously tiny and useless, but it’s a 4 and intentionally put there. Wink

Enjoy that scope. I like mine a lot. It’s a bit heavy and the glass at the edges isn’t the best, but it’s a great bang for the buck and the adjustments are very solid on mine. I’ve got mine on a 716i and it’s held up great.

Thanks! I like it also, although it was my 2nd choice behind the Vortex Strike Eagle which I have on my other AR-15 and on my AR-10. I like the reticle better on the Vortex.

I had strongly considered buying a 716i but decided on getting a Black Rain Ordnance Fallout 10 which I really like.

Looks like you are correct. Evidently made in the Philippines. Burris is based in Colorado I think.

Made in America necessitates spending a lot more money. Nightforce, Razor AMG, some Trijicon.

Is a Nightforce ATACR a better scope than a Burris RT6? Yes. Is it $1800 dollars better? I don't think so.

Maybe true, but many do not care to have in their procession a chicom product, period.
