I get it, and I try to buy dometic when I can. However at times that isn't fiscally a realistic option. I generally buy Vortex, an American company because they offer a good product at a good value. Unfortunately unless I spend a bunch of $$ the product isn't necessarily domestically produced. My first choice was
1x6 Strike Eagle actually. Burris has a factory in Colorado. I know that because when I was looking for a scope for a different rifle that fit my needs at my local Cabela's a salesman suggested Burris and told me he had toured the factory.

Glad it worked out. good choice too!

Burris gets a bad rap (maybe its their reticle choices). They make good scopes with pretty good glass for the price. I think their usa made ones are the higher end XTR etc built in Greeley, Colorado. I doubt they grind their own glass though.. probably sourced.
Kenko in the phillipines makes scopes for a ton of companies. they are also fairly well known for optical quality outside of the scopes/hunting category. Wonder if burris sources from them...
