I’m getting my first Garand this week from CMP.
I want to find a source for stripper enbloc clips.
What else do I need to load the clips?

Ammogrand.com was out of stock; I ordered 6 new USGI ones on eBay.

Do I get to be "that guy"? Big Grin

They're not stripper clips, totally different function, so NOT calling them that will make them easier to find. Wink

They're En-bloc clips. And the only thing you need to load them is patience and practice. Smile

You should be able to goo-goo up several sources.

Should not need anything but your fingers to load enblocs.

Now if you are real arthritic, there are several enbloc loaders out there (mainly 3D printed).

How many are you after?

You should receive a couple with the rifle to get started. A good idea is to buy an ammo can of loaded en blocs. That way you get the best of both worlds! Wink

No wonder I pulled up clips for M1 carbines.

Do they sell .308/7.62 NATO in enbloc clips?

Ammogarand looks good, but mostly out of stock at the moment. I get one with the rifle.

Good luck.

Surplus .30-06 preloaded on enbloc clips used to be widely available, but like all surplus ammo, availability has dropped dramatically over the last decade. So finding some prepackaged on clips is going to be significantly tougher these days. (I was lucky enough to stock up when spam cans of surplus M2 Ball on clips were cheap and widely available through the CMP.)

Your best bet for finding an ammo can or spam can of surplus ammo preloaded on clips nowadays would likely be to keep an eye on surplus rifle forums like Gunboards or the CMP forum, or Gunbroker, or troll gun shows and hope to get lucky.

Not real common, but the Navy had M80 Ball ammo loaded in enblocs for the Garands they converted to 7.62 NATO. All I've ever seen (which is not much) has been in enblocs in bandoliers.

Email me your address. I’ll send you some HXP clips that should be ideal for .308

The official name for the clip that the M1 Garand uses is 'Clip, cartridge capacity 8 cartridges'. The term 'en bloc' was coined by John D. Pedersen when he invented that style of clip for the .276 Pederson rifle.

When refering to the M1 Garand 8 round clip, everyone uses the term en bloc clip.
