At least we now know SIG will support this rifle for more than a couple of years.

Thread drift off. Does anyone have any idea how this will impact SIGs civilian production? I was just thinking about HK and their current production issues and wondering if SIG could have similar problems.

There isn't a single manufacturer in India to produce rifles? I find that odd.

From what little web research I did, it appears that this rifle won out over any home grown alternatives.

I'll see if I can find the article but IIRC India's last homegrown rifle trials were bad. Like, really bad.

Indian military equipment development and procurement is a shit-show that that makes our own seem like a well-run operation.

I'd be interested in knowing if there's anything in the deal allowing for establishing domestic (Indian) production down the road.

Am I the only cynic who wonders if Sig moving some parts production to India being related to this?

May be a coincidence, but I have wondered, why India?

Business is business.

Making those dolladollabillz.

I'm sure it didn't hurt when SIG could say "Look, your economy is going to benefit from buying from us, since you make a lot of parts for us".

Shit they want 73K rifles in a year. Like a rush order, you gotta pay a premium I'd imagine.

And they likely come with more than just the rifle, likely training and equipment too.
