Anyone have it? Pros and cons? Seems like a less expensive alternative to the Micro T and H series. Comes complete with mount ready for the rifle.

https://aimpoint.us/duty-rds-2moa-39mm/

I'm contemplating between this one ($500) and a green dot Trijicon MRO complete with mount in mint condition ($350).

Hey Q..

I was in the same place a week or two ago, and decided with the MRO. The $50 Trijicon rebate helped with my decision.

Is the $350 price, a used model or new?

Used but mint. Seller states it was mounted but never went out. The pics do reflect that.

As someone who has a green dot MRO I will say that I’m very disappointed overall in how hard it is to pick up the dot. Never thought the color would be so much of an issue, but apparently it is.

Good to hear from direct personal experience. That's weird, as I've read that the green dot is supposed to be easier to pick than red in daylight. I suppose, if you had to point to some target with a bunch of trees and leaves in the background, the green dot would be harder to pick up compared to red?

No experience with the Aimpoint but we have about 65 rifles with MROs on top for going on 5 years (maybe longer) and they have been phenomenal.

The green dot MRO that I have has a much shorter battery life than the red version. The green dot isn't as fast to pick up as the red, but usually is ok for me.

If battery life is important, then go with the Aimpoint.

Interesting. I have a green dot Holosun and the dot is easier to pick up for me than any of the red dots I own. I wonder if that's just your eyes, or the MRO, or what.

That's wild, I'm still on the same CR2032 in my Holosun and it's been on continuously since June of last year.

This video was enough for me to cross the MRO off my list. These might not be problems for everyone, but even if NODs aren't a consideration, the parallax issue is a nope for me.

I think that has a lot to do with it. Where I shoot you have a lot of foliage behind your target, as such it seems to get washed out more. Overall I'm very happy with the several MROs that I own, but the green one is relegated to my .22 plinker for this reason.

This has been my experience as well. While I like the MROs, I've turned to enjoying the MRO HDs much more so.

For me, I have a Vortex Strikefire II with red & green options.
I prefer the green dot in low light/indoor shooting & red for brighter/outdoor.

I have one and absolutely love it.

Pro’s:

It is better than the original T1/H1 and 95% of the T2/H2.

There is no green tint.

It is lightweight and the dot is perfectly round with a magnifier. That is the reason why the T2 even came out because the T1 had some green tint, and the dot was never round with a magnifier.

Much cheaper than T2/H2

Fits the needs of 99% of the average users.

Con’s

Small difference in battery life vs T2/H2

T2/H2 mounts fit, but sit the optic a little higher due to the controls. (The included mount is perfectly adequate)

Less brightness settings (not a issue even here in sunny Florida)

This is basically the micro version of the Pro model. It blows the MRO away in my opinion.

Someone should post some photos of various color reticles against a natural vegetation background
for comparison.

That came up in a recent thread with some new RDS that had a blue dot.
Someone posted a handful of photos with different color dots on some veg.

I also have both, the Aimpoint and the Trijicon in green (and a few in red). The green, as stated above, is not easy to find. It's not an easy shade of green to pick up in the daylight, and even at night. The color is sort of dull, washed-out - not even the same shade as in most rifle lasers.

The Aimpoint on the other hand sits on an AR that I keep close by. it's no different to me than any of the other Aimpoints, its light, it's clear, and easy to pick up (the color and the weight).

Easy choice for me

In reference to green dots, I had a green reticle EoTech and hated it. In bright light, it was super hard to pick up. Also, I noticed shooting in low light with a WML, the combo of the optic and Surefire X300 washed the reticle pretty bad.

My only experience with green reticle.

Dot color is personal preference. I can't see most reds for shit without really pumping up the brightness. I see green much better. I know people who are the other way around. I have not found grass, trees, etc to be an issue with green optics. The green is a bright neon looking green that is easily distinguished (for me) over "natural" green things.

We are using the MRO for general issue (about ten guys) and the Patrol for a couple on evaluation.

So far, probably an even wash between the two. I like the patrol for the size, the MRO for the battery life and wide field of view through the optic.

But both have been solid performers for us, given that we swap batteries yearly at a Qual, and currently don’t have any other options for optics so no ACOG or LPVO choices available…
