Very neat project with the shotgun. Not to derail the topic but how big was the foal at birth. Beautiful horse.

So, to answer some of the various things brought up: I set the friction ring/braking system to the heavy setting before my first range trip, and that's what it's still currently set to. I haven't made any changes to any springs yet. It cycles bird shot, buck shot and slugs. colt_saa, I badly want to do a legit side-by-side hammered 12ga coach gun just because. All the ones I've seen in the gun stores and pawn shops are priced stupidly high, though. Some day. I still need to post a thread for my grandfather's Parker I inherited. It's right around the same age as this Model 11. If I converted it to an SBS, I'm about positive my grandfather would rise from his grave and put me into mine. cee_Kamp, if the A5 stock would fit this gun, I might chase one of those down, but they don't. It's one of the first things I looked into. It's series 2 Remington Model 11 stocks only for this guy. I have never fitted a stock before, but I find myself wondering if it would be less work simply buying a roughed out repro stock and handguard and finishing it out from there myself. I found a rebuild kit I'm probably going to order. Gonna be a super busy weekend, but next week I plan to shoot it a bit and then start the tear-down for the conservation. First step is gonna be Citristrip for the furniture and then detail strip the gun. I gotta figure out the best way to do the boil method. Oh, and I need to order a carding wheel for my bench grinder. I also want to look into whether I think attempting to clean up and refresh the checkering is a dragon I feel like chasing. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon. | |||
