I ended up with this gun again after trading it away a few months back. I shoot left handed , but this is the first long gun that I have owned that was a true lefty. Seems weird to see it throwing shells out the left side ! It has a lot of enhanced features many of which people usually replace with Kidd or Volquartsen components. It has a rear locating lug and a second action screw. Machined receiver and bolt with pinned firing pin. An intergal scope mount and a really good extended mag release. Also has a adjustable cheek rest which is a good feature to have. I was a little cautious at first but it does shoot pretty well considering it has the worst trigger know to man. I already have some Kidd parts on the way to take care of that. I have a Bushnell R5 scope on it now 3 x 9 so I'm only shooting at 25 yards. This is the only .22 LR I have owned that likes Eley ammo. I was dialing in the scope this morning and tried a couple of different ammos but Eley Target shot a 5 shot group at .388" OD and Eley Ten X shot a .370" group. The trigger on this 10/22 was not very good. It was gritty and had a 3-1/2 pound pull weight so I ordered a Kidd trigger kit for it and added the Kidd hammer strut and hammer spring for it. ![]() ![]() JEREMIAH 33:3

I received my Kidd trigger components today in the mail. I just finished installing them. I replaced the stock hammer, sear and trigger assembly, the hammer strut and hammer spring with Kidd parts. All in the stock Ruger BX housing. My rifle is the LH version and I had no issue using the Kidd parts above. I function tested it and everything works as it should. I then fired 3 live rounds and again no issues. This particular BX had a stock trigger pull of just over 3-1/2 pounds tested with my Lyman trigger gauge. After installing the Kidd parts I tested it again and the trigger broke at 1-1/2 pounds and it feels much smoother and cleaner. I would highly recommend doing this mod if you aren't satisfied with the stock trigger in your 10/22 JEREMIAH 33:3

Looks like you’ve got a shooter! Interesting specs on that gun, looks like Ruger put some thought into building it. If a barrel swap is wanted, does it make any difference RH or LH? (I haven’t looked at my RH 10-22 in years) Surprised you haven’t had a lefty gun until this one. In my LH collection I’ve got 2 Rem bolt guns, an 11-87, 870 and a LH Browning Sporter O/U. My Ithaca 37 shotgun is ambi so I guess it kind of counts. -------- After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box.

My first shotgun was a Ithica M37 for that reason. Kicked like a mule but I really liked that gun. I don't think a barrel swap would cause any problems. JEREMIAH 33:3

The barrel has a recess for the extractor, so I imagine a barrel swap would require a LH barrel or a modified “normal” barrel. __________________ "Owning a handgun doesn't make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician." -Jeff Cooper

100% right I didn't think about the extractor slot. You definately would need a LH barrel. ![]() JEREMIAH 33:3

Well that shouldn’t be a big deal to any gunsmith. Even if it has a RH barrel cut, an additional cut on the off side should be doable. Thanks Chris. -------- After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box.

I have one of those left handed Rugers. I am very happy with it. I bought a bunch of magazines for it. I am not sure how they will sell and do not want to find out that you can't get magazines in a few years. This is the first Ruger 10/22 I have ever bought. When I first started shooting, I shot a variety of Springfield and Mauser bolt action rifles. Then I got a left handed Weatherby. WOW, it was a revelation. I had gotten used to right handed bolt action rifles and had no idea how much better a left handed one was for me. I have had some right handed people handle it and they can't figure out how to put it on their shoulder. I also have a left hand CZ 452 and Browning T-Bolt. I would suggest you try one.

I picked up an extra mag myself. This one seems to shoot pretty good so far. I would like to test some other ammo in it. I think that was the last box of that Eley Tenex lot number I have. JEREMIAH 33:3

Until you put on a more appropriate optic and stretch the range to 50 yards minimum, I wouldn’t waste premium ammo. 25 yards doesn’t tell you much with precision 22’s. The differences become more dramatic as distance increases. The performance difference between my lowly savage my Kidd and the cool guys vudoo while discernible is not dramatic at 50 yard, starts to diverge at 100, and becomes night and day at 300+

I have these two for longer distances and they fill that role very well. ![]() JEREMIAH 33:3
