I already have a line of people wanting to buy them. I get first pick. lol

If you are able, snag 2 or 3…shoot one, keep a backup, and have one ready for a friend next March when anything short is unobtanium!

If you can find a spare barrel that doesn’t cost as much as the gun, chopping 3.75”-4” off the 14” barrel gets it even with a flat magazine cap. You lose the front sight, but it’s a shotgun…point and shoot! I did this with my M1S90 and added a Burris SpeedBead so I had an aiming device to shoot slugs. It is my handiest shotgun and still carries 5 rounds.

So glad I picked up an unused second hand Remington based Serbu Super Shorty several years back.My son has it on top of his "want to inherit" list. Have always been fond of shorter barreled shotguns but don't have a SBS Yet!

The only reason I have a sbs is just cause the price was too good to pass on. Bought a Benelli M1 (14") for 350 maybe 10 years ago. Cerakoted it myself, put new springs in, a tritium front post, and ditched the pistol grip stock. If I didn't have that then I'd get an 870 with a 14 inch barrel and a walnut stock set. No real use for it other than just to have it. It has become my main beat around camp gun though.

The lines of the 37 seem like the best of the bunch for this type of gun.

I stopped by my favorite taxidermist / gun seller today. He’s got an 870 on the wall at a good price. I’m tempted to go back and get it, for this future short-barrel project.

It’s got a fairly long magazine tube on it, though. I didn’t measure it, but I’m wondering if it’s longer than the intended barrel. That’d be a booger! Big Grin

I started with an 870 Police Magnum SBS, quality shotty. But then I happened upon a Mossberg M90A1 SBS and it’s night and day better. Ghost ring sights and handles much better to me. Of course she is a heavy pig, but that also helps with recoil.

Ya know. Been holding out, thinking I didn’t need one. That just did it for me. Now I have to source a 1301 and prep the form 1

^^^^^^^

Very cool.

I have the 990 Aftershock and I love it, I have a green laser dot on it and quick accurate target acquisition is quite possible. Very reliable with all #8 shot, 00 buck and slugs, no issues after 150 rds. So if I was inclined to get a SBS, this would fit the bill. I imagine it has a 14.75 barrel with 5+1 capacity. Very nice.

That shortened 1301 is looking mighty tempting.

I’ve been seriously considering doing a form to make my 14” 590 Shockwave into an SBS. I get the “want” part, lol.
