Ordered one yesterday. As I understood it there were none released to distributors yet. I’ve debated the 357 actually wishing for a 327 fed. I’ll not be stocking another caliber which I’ve tired of. ----------The weather is here I wish you were beautiful----------

Hornady has a 10MM Leverevolution load. Odd it is 150 grain and supposedly listed at 1220 fps (don't know what barrel length) Regardless of specs, if it works, it works.

This is great for those who want it, but for me I hope it means a 45acp model might be coming.

^^^ That would be pretty damned neat. I'd be curious to see if it would function with .45 Super as well, but even if it only fired .45 ACP it would be worth having in its own right.

Lots of similarity in these cartridges that don't do much that the 357 mag does not already do. I would love to see a reasonably priced lever action in 460S&W or 500S&W. That would raise the bar considerably.

Would those be considerably better than a 45-70? Or are we just keeping it to typical pistol calibers? Omitting the silly 45-70 pistol. Just because something ain’t Better doesn’t mean some folks don’t want it. I don’t own any .357 firearms, but I have several 10mm and reload for it. Not giving you grief, just saying pure performance doesn’t sway folks desires that much. Nine years to retirement! Just waiting!

Possibly they chose 10MM as a chambering due to customer demand, maybe based on misconceptions about its power. Many think its near equal to 41 Mag, when it is really more equivalent to 357 Mag. It seems 10MM is gaining popularity and there are many pistol options when there used to be few. 10MM likely just meets a power level for confidently taking whitetail and wild pigs. That's a good place to be. If you want powerful, the 45-70 is available, and the 44 Mag is also. The 44 Mag is a better hunting round out of a short rifle than the 10MM, but the 10MM is probably better for target/plinking and home defense. Especially if 10MM prices come down due to popularity. I don't know if lever guns care or work better with rimmed or rimless cartridges, but its too bad there isn't a more available and cheap cartridge just a bit longer or larger caliber than the 10MM. I can't think of one. Probably some of the hot 10MM loads with heavy bullets from small loaders such as Buffalo Bore, Double Tap, Underwood and CorBon would be pretty good thumpers out of a 16" barrel. It seems that 10MM has gotten to be the most available and lowest cost cartridge in this power class. That rifle would be even better if it could also shoot 40 S&W. Too bad they couldn't figure out a way.

This Marlin 10mm rifle will match my Smith Wesson 610 4" for back country use. Thanks for the heads Up! Options: Will this Rifle shoot .40SW ? Technically it is a 10mm short? With the .40SW it is cheaper and better for suppressor use (Subsonic Loads)??? HK firearms Collector

Unfortunately, this rifle will not shoot .40 S&W. Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love. - 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

Does it have a threaded barrel? 10mm ammo with heavy bullets is subsonic. Phone's ringing, Dude.

Yes it does. I have one on order. Plan to use the Rugged 45 I have with it. I should get a dedicated 10mm can but it makes the Banshee 10mm quiet enough to not use war pro so I think it’ll be even better with the 16” barrel. Nine years to retirement! Just waiting!

They are nice during hunting season when wearing gloves. I take my 45-70 Guide gun out in the woods a few times a year when it's chilly out. I wouldn't expect to go hunting with a 10mm though, so I'd have to pass on this one, especially at that price. ________________________________________________________ It is long past time for a Convention of States. It’s nice to have these caliber choices, but good lord, these prices are just insane. All of a sudden lever actions are made of gold. It doesn’t seem that long ago when a new Marlin 336 was around $300. Back in 2006 I bought a nearly new 336 from a pawn shop for $200. Ugh, now I feel really old. I agree. The appeal of leverguns to me was the affordable utility compared to a semi-auto...basically a "working man's gun". Grandpa's deer rifle, or the gun you'd throw in the tractor or work truck for plinking groundhogs and coyotes on the farm. These days they've become the toys of those with large disposable incomes, and you can get an AR-15 for a third of the price. I'm grateful that I bought my leverguns when I did, because I definitely can't afford them now. ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.
