Pinned gas blocks are definitely extremely robust. Absolutely necessary with an exposed gas block which is easy to apply leverage to, like a standard front sight base.


I don't consider it to be absolutely crucial for a low profile gas block that is protected by a handguard. That is just me though.

Just an update. Took the rifle to the range for a little break-in. 200 rounds fired flawless but rifle sights are off, so I'm going to have to take it to the department range and get it done. I used the optic for the rest of the break-in. After further inspection of the gas block, it is in fact pinned, so one less issue to worry about. Ordered a Radian Raptor SL charging handle and some Ergo hand guard grips since the low profile guard got fairly hot. Looking forward to getting for time behind the trigger.
