IWI > PSA

Buy the Ace, you won't be disappointed ever.

I think I have more interest in an upper than the entire thing, once they shake out any issues.

What is the
soup du jour?

If PSA thought adding the weight of their home brew products would positively influence buyer decisions, it would be there. The weight's consistent absence across their website is indicative of PSA's conclusion.

I think it's good to see some innovation in rifle design from PSA. Hopefully it works out for them.

I'll stick with AR-10s and AR-15s.

Agree 100%. I’ve owned the 8”, 13” and 16” gen 2 5.56 Galil Aces and a Gen 1 308 rifle. All robust and stout, even if on the portly side. The only thing keeping me curious about the 308 JAKL is the $300 price difference.

Not sure Ace over JAKL is a slam dunk for me. I’ve got Gen 1 Aces in 7.62x39 and 7.62x51. They’re nice, but pretty proprietary and have a non-adjustable gas system. Also not too keen on the fixed front sight and the rear rail that’s mounted on the dust cover that gets removed every time you take the gun apart. The JAKL has the monolithic top rail, M-Lok handguard, and can take some commonly available parts.

The Gen 2 .308 Galil ACE solves some of your complaints, having a MLOK handguard and no fixed front sight.

Yeah, but since I already have a Gen 1, I’m not going to run out and spend more money to get a Gen 2. Rather get something that’s different instead of a revamp with different furniture.

Man, I'd love a Galil ACE (7.62x39 for me, of course), but every time I look at that railed dust cover and the price tag I find myself thinking that a 13" barreled pistol and a red dot on top of the fixed hand guard is a better deal. It's definitely an improvement over one of those big, heavy FAB handguards that has a rail stretching back over the receiver, but that dang railed dust cover still seems like an unresolved problem to me.

If a standard AR pattern rifle is a Hummer, this is the H3.

The Gen 1 looks good with an RS Regulate handguard, plastic grip/magwell removal, surplus folding stock, grip, trigger guard, and metal magazine conversion.

My Ace Gen 2 dust covers are super snug and rock solid, no worries about mounting a red dot or scope. I practically have to tap it back into place lightly with a rubber mallet. I cannot speak to the Gen 1s as I have no experience with them. But I will say this, IWIs always hold their value and the customer service is A#1.

Unlike PSA where it is a roll of the dice on quality control.

Btw, for those contemplating the JAKL-10, if you care which way the stock folds, be aware that the B&T MBT stock folds right, whereas the F5 stock folds left (preferred, imo).

According to initial Youtube reviews, the weight of these initial 14.5" versions is ~9.5 pounds, naked and unloaded with no mag.

That's a little disappointing, and also means any subsequent 16/18/20 inch versions will be closer to 10 pounds. (14.5 is a bit short for .308.)

Thus the Jakl doesn't seem to save you anything over the old style SR25/AR10B pattern rifles when it comes to weight.

So I still think the 6-7 pound SF .308 ARs are the way of the future here, saving you 2-3 pounds (~26-34% lighter).

Even the SCAR 17S is lighter by about a pound and a half at 7.9 pounds (~17% lighter).

It's not. I have a Gen1 ACE .308 11" pistol and it's cool and hell after swapping in the RS Regulate rail. Picked up a Gen2 16" rifle also in .308 as a beater since the price was right.
