For a while it looked like the M-1 inventory was going to dwindle to nothing. Really glad to see this massive influx of Garands to CMP!!

I need to get a Garand since that’s not currently on the communist radar in VA.

Don't currently own one. Might make that my first overtime purchase of 2020.

Video came up on my recommended vids on YouTube, I just haven't had time to watch it yet.

A Perpetual Disappointment...

I recently acquired a CMP Garand. My only regret is not doing so sooner. The process was much more painless than I had anticipated, and the rifle is phenomenal. It shoots like a dream...better than I thought possible with iron sights. I had it out yesterday and had 6 rounds touching at 50 yards. I kind of want to sell some ARs and get more.

Used to be, you had to shoot in at least one match. There was no way around it.

They host high-power matches at my local club...I kind of want to give it a try, but I highly doubt I'll be in any way competitive. I can do ok prone, but my standing technique is quite poor.

Very cool!

My CMP rebuilt Garand is the neatest gun in my safe. I wanted a Garand I could shoot without reservation, so I decided to buy a rebuild from the CMP. You'd never confuse me for an authority on Garands, but I think they did a heck of a job on the rebuild. The fit and finish are such that the gun is like new. It's got a new barrel from Criterion as well as a new stock, so I'm sure there's no value beyond the fun it is to shoot. But, fun it is indeed!

Oh, by the way, which one's "Pink?"

Any idea if some of these will make it up to their north store in Ohio? Would be a fun road trip with my son. We’ve been wanting one for quite some time.

Thanks to Uncle Sam, I carried a few M1 Garands and qualified at 500 yards during basic training. I was ordered to sleep with mine for a week after I dropped it in front of the DI. I even had a chance to buy my issued H&R M1 Grand when I left the Army. $63USD...and I refused. (This was before the GCA68)

Sorry, but I find the Springfield M1A a better choice and surplus .308 ammo easier to find.

Love those Garands! Recently got back on the Garand kick, so much fun to go to the range with one. Beautiful rifles, lot of history there.

It's way past time to get this off the back burner. Put it off too long. Ashamed to say I've never owned a Garand.

Rolan, here's my trip report from my visit in late August. I can boil it down into one sentence: Bring more money than just the cost of a rifle. Big Grin

You could shoot a GSSF match and qualify as match shooter. It isn’t just rifles that make the cut.
