For a 16” or longer barrel the AR-15 fits in the slots of the safe if you extend the buttstock all the way. However, the SBRs are too short to reach the muzzle slots. I had to remove my shelves that i use for ammo and magazines so that I can keep the SBR in there. I want my shelves back so what’s my next move to get the SBR out of my shelf side of the safe?

You can see that I need my shelves back. What do you do for the shorties?

Collapse/fold it up and put a silicone gun sock on it and lay it across the shelf top where the barrels come through.

I’m not sure I understand. Got a picture? If you don’t want it on the forum, my email is in my profile.

I’ll see how it fits. I can move the pistols to one of the shelves.

You have tons of open space in that safe. There's no need to sacrifice the entire right side just for one short rifle.

I'd just move that black case that's on the bottom left around to somewhere else (maybe stacking it on top of the other black case in the back left), then put the SBR down there and lean it against the left side wall.

Or, if you don't feel like moving the case, you can put the SBR in front of the shotgun and longer AR, with the optic towards the divider and the pistol grip towards the left wall, and then just lean it against the AR/shotgun and the middle divider.

Or, if my rough guesstimation of dimensions is correct, you may even be able to scoot those three wooden handgun stands and assorted mags around a bit, and lay it sideways on the top shelf.

It appears you just got hung up on thinking you have to use the fancy barrel slots for every rifle. Sticking it on a shelf, or leaning it against a wall or against another long gun, works just fine, and gets you the whole right side shelving area back.

I agree with Rogue; I WISH I had that much space in my safe. I think you can do some rearranging as suggested to make it work...

OR

Get another safe. A shorter one. Smile

BTW, is your interior purple or is that just the lighting making another shade of gray look like that? At first glance, it looks like Prince's gun safe.

This is from several years ago. A lot have changed since, but you get the idea.

12131: Mind sharing what model safe that is? It looks super wide compared to its depth.

Thanks everyone. I’ll try rearranging it and laying the SBR on the top.

I got some half inch cheap plywood and some felt and made a slotted system that I can put 2 ar's with optics mounted in each slot. It works good but it isn't the best setup I've ever seen. It works for me though.

It's one of the Fort Knox Defender models that has been discontinued. Dimensions: H 60" x W 41" x D 27".

I'm counting 24 of various setups. Makes me feel like I'm slacking. Mine all still fit in the little cutouts with room left.

My single ar pistol is in 9mm, so it's currently just in a gun rug and leaned against the inside safe wall.

A Perpetual Disappointment...

It kinda doesn't fit on the top shelf but I put it there anyway. This is much better organized.

Get door organizer for the safe, you can move you pistols into slots for them and clear up that shelf, you can also store mags, paperwork, cash,

There is a ton of space available on the door.

https://www.gunsafes.com/door-organizers.html

As a bonus it will cover up the gay purple covering Razz
