I have been using photobucket for hosting my avatar. I put my avatar in postimage.org and tried to change the link in my profile to this: https://s19.postimg.org/8z68v9...deIndicator60x60.jpg It shows up fine when I put it in the body of a post, but when I try to change it in the "Custom Avatar" portion of my profile, I receive this error message from the forum software:

Nope. Maybe it's your attitude... But I'll host it for you. http://www.wootmonkey.com/uplo...0092409-0a06db58.jpg "the meaning of life, is to give life meaning" ✡ Ani Yehudi אני יהודי Le'olam lo shuv לעולם לא שוב!

Thank you. I'll put an extra banana in your rations. I switched it over and it seems to be working. Wonder why it works on the monkey site and not on postImage. Very strange. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Now that I dumped Photobucket and opened a PostImage account, I am getting the same error message that V-Tail received. Anyone know the fix for this? This message has been edited. I composed and have been refining a post that I made in the Photobucket thread about current free 3rd party image hosting sites both for avatars and other images. Although my original post was in response to Prefontaine needing a solution fast, I had already intended to compose such list including any known pros and cons in a new topic here, in the SIG Forum Office. My post of free 3rd party hosting sites is here: https://sigforum.com/eve/forums...720045724#7720045724 Anyone with the time and inclination is welcome to make editorial suggestions. I invited input on the Photobucket thread, but there's a problem with that. Most members are, understandably, not following that thread either because they found a solution or else never had a problem because they don't use Photobucket. It seems better to make any suggestions for improvement on the Photobucket thread rather than on this topic. As I posted earlier in that topic, the Photobucket thread is already a "mishmash of anger, test posts, and discovery processes", so why clutter up the office and also sort of hijack this thread? I am going to lop off the part about the Denver Post's "FAKE NEWS!", as that was sort of a joke and would not make any sense out of context. I am also unsure about retaining the suggestion that forum members request 3rd party hosting from Amazon Prime Photos. Regarding the question in the previous post about using PostImage for avatars, I addressed that as best that I could in a concise manner in my free 3rd party hosting post. The story from TatorTodd is that he was using PostImage to host his avatar, but when he tried to change to a 4th of July avatar, PostImage stopped working for him. But then I have noticed at least three forum members who are still using PostImage to host their avatars. Curiously, I got the same error message when I tried to use imgbb.com to host an avatar. There was speculation that the https prefix was the cause of these error messages, yet Amazon Prime Photos works with an https prefix (but only temporarily).

I have unlimited hosting and can host avatars for no cost to folks on one of my sites. Just email me with a link to the image you want or send me the image, and your screen name. I can resize almost any image as well. I'll host it and send you the link. I think there is one or more other members offering the same thing. Thanks Monkey. As always, you are a generous and thoughtful simian. The other member is Woodman. Between the two of you, the avatar situation is probably handled pretty well. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Oh great Sigmonkey! Can you please help a tech dinosaur with his avatar? Email sent. When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are undisturbed. Count me as another member, sigmonkey, still having avatar issues. I just sent you an email. Went with one of the standard forum-offered avatars after the Photobucket Shakedown began, but would prefer to have my old one back in action. Thank you for offering to do this!
