Did my first 10k Run & Gun event in September, totally kicked my ass. Had a great time doing it, having a buddy was key. Overall a very neat event and I got to shoot a 240 which was awesome. Put together a decent video chronicling my shit show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EqwhZklz3Y&t=1049s IDPA ESP SS

Outstanding. This is what going outside of your comfort zone is all about. Expand your boundaries, learn from challenges, improve your capabilities. This is orders of magnitude beyond "look at my 5-round group at 50 yards from a bench rest".... Well done.

I was happy with it, especially for being over 40. IDPA ESP SS

That's awesome! I'd love to do something like that. Do most people actually run that whole thing with all that gear, or is it more of a ruck march for most people? Like you I'll be over 40 here in two months, and while I'm both a casual (I run every day, but not competitively) runner and a backpacker, I don't usually combine the two lol! How hard is it to get involved in something like that, and is it expensive? Any smaller, more local events out there to kind of work your way up? The combination of the weight, the miles, the terrain, the mental games, and the shooting looks like an absolutely lovely and miserable time ! What was your loadout? I assume you had to carry all your water and ammo for the whole thing. Any gear issues (I heard one of you say you knocked your optic and had to tap out on a stage)? Lessons learned/recommendations?
