I want to get back into shooting more,
A long long time ago I spoke to fellow members about joining Metacon in Simsbury,(I had a lot of stuff going on in my life that came up I moved, yada yada yada) that might be a pipe dream now due the wait list...I also inquired about Bell City in Southington and they told me it would take about 2 years but was like I okay but still submitted my application and I guess one day I may get a call summer/fall of 2019.

Besides getting out to play golf once in a while I'd like to find a place to hang out and meet new people, maybe sign up for a shooting event...who knows. Does anybody here from CT have any pull with these places or are a member somewhere else with a shorter wait list?

Thanks,
Larry

I’m a member at Metacon - it is limited to 750 members. Attempts to increase membership get voted down, as current folks don’t want to have to wait for a shooting spot.

You should show up at a monthly meeting, and get your name on the wait list. You can use the indoor range one a month at the “Friends of Metacon” event. Matches are usually open to the public. If you shoot IDPA, we need more SOs and scorekeepers - guaranteed entry to the match if you volunteer to work...

Thanks a lot for the info, I'll try to get down there, what day of the week is the monthly meeting?

I've never done any competition shooting but wanted to give it a shot (no pun intended)

You could always join Hartford Gun Club in East Granby but it's damn expensive.

I really need to teach more to help offset the cost of my membership there. It's the only place around central Connecticut where I can work from a holster in an outdoor bay.

Evil exists. You can not negotiate with, bribe or placate evil. You're not going to be able to have it sit down with Dr. Phil for an anger management session either.

Steve,
Thaks for the info, the price is not that bad, it's just East Granby is like 40 minutes from me, some other places out of the way are near my work which makes it a little more enticing (but I still may consider it)

membership meetings are third Tuesday of every month. more here: http://www.metacongunclub.com/

"Friends of Metacon" is open shoot for public - on the indoor range, 4th Saturday of each month 6 - 10 PM. Good way to meet members. Members can bring 2 guests, so that is an easy way to get range time.

IDPA matches are first Sunday of every month. Info on how to sign up here: http://www.necpl.com/ We'll walk you through a safety briefing at your first match. There are links there about IDPA.

Did they add outdoor bays? I heard they were thinking about it. I'm always looking for small bays where I can shoot and move.
