Might be another discontinued model but can still be found new on line. There are FDE models as well. I lived with the Navy model as my apartment gun for a couple years. Its a excellent P226.

The MK25 is simply the most recent version of a line of P226 pistols that either mimic or match what the US Navy SEALs used to be issued. They now are issued Glocks, but my guess is that P226s are still in the inventory.

The MK25 has been sold since at least 2015. Check Sig Sauer's website. Although the MK25 is principally a marketing gimmick, it does have corrosion resistant internals in case you want to attack the beach from the surf. In truth, though, given the extras, including night sights, it's probably worth the extra cost over a P226 Nitron

Whatever the model, Navy or MK25, the anchor has always been there.

Thanks. I remember the mk25 coming with a correct 1913 spec rail, not the rounded version on the 226R that got chewed up with a light attached. Is this still the case?

Last I checked the Mk25 was still offered. At least SIG didn't have a problem with me ordering them. But SIG definitely has pared down the number of hammer-fired variations, particularly when one looks at calibers other than 9mm. Guns that they still "had" in the catalog were missing on their order spreadsheets, etc.

I'm pretty sure that SIG cut back on overall production numbers when it comes to their alloy models and instead put most of their efforts and focus towards their poly guns. Simply (and somewhat sadly) put, their poly framed guns are cheaper and quicker to make, and during these challenging times that's the best formula that is most effective in fulfilling demand, both for the public in general and for their bottom line.

EDIT: yes, the Mk25 has the 1913 rail.

I’ve been trying to hunt down a mk25 for a few months now and they don’t seem to be in stock anywhere.

They are the last short extractor 9mm offering so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them get the axe unfortunately.

The Mk 25 does come with a Certificate Of Authenticity, if that's important to collectability.

With all due respect, I don't think the MK25 and the Navy are particularly collectible. Sig has made a number of them over the years. They might hold value a little better than the P226 Nitron. But the P226 in any version is such a fine weapon, you might as well just shoot it. I certainly have been doing that with mine.

Now if one was able to land a P226 that was actually used by the SEALs - I suspect DoD destroys their used sidearms - that would be collectible. It would also have been shot -- a LOT.

Generally speaking, I agree with you that most of the SIG P226 "Navy" commercial versions don't currently command much of a collector value, with the notable exception of the original limited commercial release of the P226-9-Navy, and perhaps a few of the other limited release variants.

Perhaps, years after the "Navy" in all its variants is discontinued, increased interest by collectors might develop...or not.

I believe the batch of NSW SIG contract over-runs that were released to the commercial market (New in Box, factory test-fired only) would have been more collectible if they were easier to identify, but as they are they were released into the market concurrently with the same commercial model.

Many firearms are low in stock and will be for a while. I have been trying to get a 226 extreme and waited a few hours after I sought on Grab a Gun and it sold out. If you see it and wanted buy it immediately. I keep checking websites and I have signed up for number of alerts when the product that I want comes back in stock. Grabagun did have a P226 MK-25 15rd mag version listed and I bought one Wednesday evening. It's now showing out of stock. The Extreme they have is a CA model so that's out for me due to the design of the LCI but I already have an Extreme so that's OK.

Yes, non-rail single "U" S/N (contract overrun) were said to be released in the most limited number.

Many places had Mk25 complete slides for sale. I bought one. I wondered if Sig was discontinuing it and selling off what they had.
