watch how Ernest Landgon chambers a pistol round and it kinda makes sense but Sig is definitely doing it for looks not competitive advantage

1) With more red dots being used in competition and more shooters not wanting to bump/damage/change settings racking their slide off the red dot, they're adding more and more serrations to the front of the slide to get a better grip to clear malfunctions (either planned or unplanned) while losing little time. It's also why more and red dot only slides aren't coming with rear serrations because no one is using them if they have a red dot installed.

2) This is Max Michel's competition gun. He has final say on what goes on and what stays off. It was also on his previous P320 competition pistol.

Also found a video on the P211 that has me interested. I'll probably wait for the price to come down a little, but I'm also wondering if this will kill any steam that the OA Defense 2311 has.

Guess I'm just a bit too Neanderthal for all that. I just grab the slide over the top from the back like I've always done it, and if there's an optic there my hand goes over it. It's not my goal, but if the optic ends up serving as a charging handle as a result, so be it. If it fails under those conditions then it's not fit for service anyway.

Personally I'd rather work around or with the optic than be grabbing and manipulating the gun so close to where the bullets come out...but I'm no grand master, either.

You also wouldn't be using any of these guns for self defense. These are gamer guns with gamer gun shortcuts.

I'm more excited about the updated P226 X Carry Legion and what other variants Sig can do with the P211.

Am I the only one here who thinks it is sacrilege to call a 1911-derivative a Sig P21x? When I first saw this, I thought it had be a double stack P210. Boy, was I wrong.

Sig has been incredibly innovative the past decade or two, but wow, their naming department sucks balls.

Thank you; my sentiments exactly!

So far I haven't gone with optics on any of my pistols as I'm old school enough to want to use iron sights. Eventually my eyesight may deteriorate enough to require them, but for now I'll pass. If/when I am forced to use an optic, it better be able to handle me grabbing onto it or I wouldn't want it!

I’m kinda interested. Whats with the two trigger systems. Is the single action basically the p320 action?

It's got a hammer, so no. Just a reworked variant of the P226/P229 SAO, which already existed.

I'm very interested in learning whether the new P226 is an aesthetic/ergonomic refresh and they left the internals - small parts, barrel, slide/rail interface, etc - the same or not. Also mags...especially mags.

I like the grips - similar to the Hogue Contour style which turns out I really like. Definitely like the fact they resisted putting holes in the slide like the Zev version, or worse, that "Pro-Cut" abomination. I grease everything, and that would allow limitless crap to stick inside.

Not sure if I like the DA/SA trigger shape - kind of like the GGI Hybrid trigger that I ran for a while but went back to the standard curved. I like looks of the corner on the original P226 trigger guard, but the new rounded one is fine given my grip doesn't use that.

The Carry version does seem like this is a set up to retire the P229 line.

I am one of those weird folks who does tend to run the slide from the front with an optic attached. While my brain knows the G forces the optic experiences while shooting are far more then that of me running the slide with the optic, I still don’t like banging on my optic.

Oh, I saw that lineup, and I WANT at least the 226X carry. Hoping to see some soon, and hoping not too pricey. Like the looks a lot. Would the standard P226 mags fit the new P226X carry legion?
( If I can convince hubby, I’d get the p211 GTO too, lol.)

What do you think the odds are that they make a threaded barrel for the XCarry version? This seems like the perfect suppressor host.

Likely. I'm wondering if the P226 Carry will use the same barrels as the P229.

I don't understand these compensated carry guns. Unless you can really "gas" up the round with handloads, they don't do much with a 9mm.
They will get full of lint and also catch on things.
I get it on a gamer gun or maybe even a law enforcement holstered weapon (since it's basically their primary weapon and the holsters are more forgiving). For a gun I'll stick inside my pants, I'll take simple and sweet setup any day over an overcomplicated 2011.

The carry comp guns work very well with +P self defense rounds and the comp/ports takes away just enough recoil instead of using bunny fart hollowpoints like Hornady Critical Defense Light for the subcompacts that don't work well in full size guns.

I sent SIG customer service a query and they confirmed that the new P226Xs take standard P226 mags in addition to "X series mags", which I assume are exactly like standard P226 mags, with maybe some fancy markings and/or baseplate, and a premium price. Good thing I have a metric ton of MecGars.

Based on the new revelation in THIS thread, I would say no, since they will be standardizing everything with the P226 line. The barrels have different locking lugs, and the locking inserts are different.

Btw, it (SAO version) is available at grabagun for $1400. Anyone want to be beta tester? Big Grin

I would if I had the cash, but a Marantz AV Receiver and Focal towers killed my gun budget.
