Will this model just fade away or does anyone think a new Gen version will come out?

Doubtful. There's not much demand for them, which is why they only make occasional small runs of them. They don't even make Gen 4 17Ls... They're all Gen 3s.

I'm not sure (and could be totally wrong) that it differs enough from a G34 to merit a run of them.
